Hello to all lovers to craft this homemade for those who feel sorry for scraping old car parts. One author decided to adapt the crankshaft and flywheel from the engine to make the lamp. The homemade product turned out to be interesting, though very heavy, it is better not to drop such a lamp on one leg. Homemade will be appreciated by car lovers, mechanics and just men. Lamp manufacturing process:
Step one. Parts preparation
First of all, we need a crankshaft from the engine and a flywheel, it’s not at all necessary that the parts fit together for fastening. Of course, old car parts are often greased or rusty, intermediate options are rare. You have to work hard to clean the whole thing from dirt. Of course, if you have a sandblasting machine or other similar machine, everything will become easier.
If there is no special machine, fill everything with boiling water, washing, and then clean with a grinder and a drill with brush nozzles. It is also a good option to burn the parts on fire, the grease will burn, and it will be much easier to clean the rust after firing.
Step Two Base assembly
We assemble the lamp base; for this, we crank the crankshaft to the flywheel at right angles. Everything should be boiled very tightly, since all the parts are very heavy. The flywheel acts as a good foundation, it is large and has a lot of weight. The crown can also be seized by welding to the flywheel.
To the other end of the crankshaft, the author welded fasteners for installing a cartridge.
Step ThreeShade
We make a lamp shade, for this we need an empty gas cylinder. If there was combustible gas in the cylinder, fill the cylinder with water and cut it in this state. If you start cutting an empty cylinder that once had flammable gas, the remaining vapors may explode with all the ensuing consequences.
We cut off the upper and lower parts from the cylinder, we get an excellent cover, we clean it from paint using a grinder with a suitable disk. 4 pieces of a profile pipe of the same length are welded to the cylinder. That's all, the lampshade is ready, now it can be installed on the base, we weld the whole thing to the crankshaft.
Step Four Painting and assembly
We clean the welds and the entire surface of the lamp well. Then you can paint the homemade product, and we will paint, of course, to match the color of the metal. You can choose the color of copper, bronze, silt silver color for steel. The lamp looks great.
Install the cartridge, light bulb and connect the cable. That's all, the project is completed, everything looks great. Such home-made creates an original aura in the room, and if you paint everything with copper, then the project is quite attractive for the status of “steampunk”.
