Almost every master in his workshop has a workbench. And in order to rigidly fix blanks on it for their subsequent processing, various fixtures.
In this article, the author of the YouTube “Hands from the shoulders” channel, will tell you about a very simple and reliable device that can easily cope with this task.
This homemade product is extremely easy to manufacture, and can be repeated in just a few minutes.
Materials
- Wooden beam
- The extended bolt, nut, washers M10.
Instruments, used by the author.
- Drilling machine
- Feather drills for wood
- Hacksaw
- Wrench
- Ruler, square, pencil, awl.
Manufacturing process.
So, the first thing the master outlines at the ends of the wooden block centers, and pricks them with an awl.
Due to the fact that the length of the drill is not enough to drill a through hole with a diameter of 10 mm, the author drills a bar from two sides.
After drilling, you need to cut the bar diagonally.
Now the two parts obtained are pulled together by an M10 bolt and a nut with a pair of washers. It is desirable to sand the wooden surfaces of the wedges in contact with each other and treat them with wax or laundry soap, this will greatly improve the slip.
So the simplest wedge clamp is ready. With it, you can not only securely fix the workpiece on a workbench, but also temporarily wedge a door or window during installation. Of course, you can choose its size yourself, depending on your goals and objectives.
I thank the author for a simple but useful fixture for the home and workshop!
All good mood, good luck, and interesting ideas!
