Good day to all readers and "masters." On duty, I often went to unfamiliar places by car. I needed a navigator, of course, but I didn’t want to sit up in vehicles like taxi drivers (a cell phone, a navigator, a tablet or several, a radar detector, etc.) and did not want to sit all in wires and charges. It’s easy to install a navigation program on your phone, and almost any phone has GPS or A-GPS. It remains to solve the problem of mounting the phone in the car. To buy a universal huge holder and shove a phone there every time is not an option, in my opinion. And then I came across the magnetic holders, the manufacture of which we will do today.
We will produce from improvised means:
- Holder for old, not working or unnecessary navigator
- Hard drives, two pieces, also non-working or unnecessary
- glue
- Instruments
- Straight arms
Step 1 Removing magnets.
I admit, I'm still that flea marketer. I have a lot of trash. In order not to die under the piles of this trash, I periodically deal with it. I throw something away (with tears in my eyes), something goes into the business that I donate for scrap. You can, of course, just buy neodymium magnets (a powerful permanent magnet consisting of an alloy of the rare-earth element neodymium, boron and iron), but this option is not for us. We will take apart the computer hard drive. Ordinary magnets will not work, checked by me they can not hold the phone, especially when shaking in the car. So, open the hard one:
Quite often, hard drives are twisted with bolts with a hexagonal star head; without such a screwdriver, it will be difficult to disassemble the hard one. In short, the structure is hard:
We are interested in permanent magnets. Hard drives are different, but everyone has the same structure:
Magnets are attached to metal plates. The main thing is to pick out the magnets so as not to break them. The first magnet I broke. In one hard, there are only two of them. It is best to pick up the magnet by bending the metal plate. You fix one end of the plate at the very edge, so as not to grab the magnet itself, in a vice, grab the other end with pliers and bend the plate into a circle, so the magnet will remain straight and fall off itself. Having obtained the magnets, we begin the search for fastening to the glass. The speed of development of electrical engineering is huge. A few years ago, a phone playing mp3 was considered cool, but now the phone doesn’t only brew coffee.It’s the same with the navigators, so I have such a mess, an old one, the battery is dead, and you can’t load new maps anymore. But the holder from him is in good condition. I think many have such a mess. Maybe from the navigator or phone. There is no difference, the main thing is that the suction cup is good:
We remove the part that directly holds the navigator.
We glue magnets onto the pad for her. The phones are of course different, I experimented with my old HTC. Three magnets were enough for my phone:

Step 3 Preparing the phone.
It remains to prepare the phone. I have an old HTC. He is so old that his back cover is removed so that you can change the battery, SIM card and memory card. And in this case, this is a plus, since a small square of sheet metal can be placed under the lid. I used thin galvanization, the size of the example is 2 m by 2 cm:
