Similar fixtures help to remove screws, screws, studs and other hardware with mucous slots. The extractors are made in the form of hexagonal bits for a drill or screwdriver and are made of high speed tool steel (HSS). The extractors are two-sided: on the one hand there is a centering drill (rather mediocre, it is recommended to grind it), and on the other hand there is a tapered tap for the left thread. Each extractor is marked with the name of the steel from which it is made, as well as a serial number that determines the diameter range of the elements to be recovered.
In order to remove the damaged element, it is necessary to drill its slot with a drill built into the extractor (or any other), then forcefully press the extractor into the drilled hole and, changing the direction of rotation of the cartridge to loosen (counterclockwise), unscrew the chip. Note that these operations are recommended to be performed at minimum speed so as not to disrupt the freshly cut thread.
The scope of delivery includes extractors of the following types:
• # 1 - for extracting elements with a diameter of 3 to 5 mm;
• # 2 - for extracting elements with a diameter of 4 to 8 mm;
• # 3 - for extracting elements with a diameter of 5 to 10 mm;
• # 4 - for extracting elements with a diameter of 6 to 12 mm.
The diameters of the extractors numbered 1, 2 and 3 are 6.3 mm, and numbered 4 is 9 mm. The length of all four extractors is the same - 50 mm. Devices are delivered in a case from moderately soft (and therefore resistant to falls) plastic on a latch. Each extractor is fixed inside the box in latches.
It should be noted that the extractors did not undergo heat treatment and therefore it is highly desirable to perform it after the acquisition.
For their money, these are quite worthy devices and they partially perform the declared functions “out of the box” (they cope with soft metals, but they are hardly likely to succumb to them). With some refinement, such a set will be even more useful, and its service life will increase significantly.
