On this site there are already articles on table lamps from the crankshaft and camshaft, but the author of Instructables under the nickname fra used the crankshaft and flywheel in the floor lamp. Both parts are vintage, they are taken from a 1966 engine. It all started with the fact that the master found a semi-disassembled engine from a Mercedes-Benz 220 / W111 car among his grandfather’s auto parts. Many details were missing there, including the cylinder head, so the master decided to disassemble the engine:
Of course, I had to tinker, but finally the crankshaft was removed:
The master launders the crankshaft and flywheel from the hardened oil with a detergent and various wire brushes, then dries them with compressed air and wipes them with a cloth.
It connects the crankshaft to the flywheel, and now all this can be put on the floor:
From the side opposite to the flywheel, the master removes a small wedge. Then it acquires pseudo-screw parts: cartridge, cord, lamp. In this case, it is an incandescent lamp, and there are also LED filament pesvdintage lamps.
Dismantles the cartridge, connects, installs, assembles, and the unusual floor lamp is ready. It will perfectly complement the interior of both the home and the cafe or other public place.
