Many of you are engaged in carpentry, and you know how important various planers are in it.
In this article, the author of the Penser YouTube channel will tell you how to make a small planer for processing small elements and edges of parts.
This homemade tool is quite simple to manufacture, but you will need a drilling machine, or stand for a drill. Other operations can be done with a hand tool.

Manufacturing process.
First of all, the master cuts two plates of plexiglass with dimensions of 100X50 mm. He tries to maintain a protective film, as during further processing the surface can be damaged.
Then two wooden inserts are cut.
Next, with the help of a band saw, a clamping eccentric is cut out.
The edges of all the workpieces are ground on the machine.
The master printed out the templates and prepared all the details. Templates can be found by following the courtesy of the author. the link.
Templates are applied to the parts, and marks are drilled on them with an awl for drilling.
Using double-sided tape, two tabs are fixed on one side wall, they need to be aligned with the lower edge of the wall. This can be done with a flat board, building level, or other flat surface.
Then, a second side wall is glued to the double-sided tape.
The master himself decided to make the blade out of the chisel, he cuts off the shank with the handle, and polishes the cutoff place on the machine.
Now it's time to drill the holes for the screws in the case. First, the author drills through holes with a thin drill. Then, with a drill of a slightly larger diameter, he drills holes in the plexiglass, and countersinks them.
The following is the preset of the blade, pressure plate, and cam.
A hole for the eccentric axis is made on the drilling machine.
Almost all drilling work is completed, and the author decides to remove all the protective films, and assemble the case.
Establishes a blade, a clamping level, and checks quality of fixing.
Awl pricks the place where the pressure plate will be attached.
The holes for the screws, which will act as the axis for the plate, are drilled in the same way as in the body.
Two screws are screwed into the edge of the plate so that they allow it to move freely.
The bottom and sides of the body are aligned on the grinder.
The master proceeds to sharpen the blade. To do this, he applies devicewhich he made earlier. How to make it is described in detail in this article.
He makes the initial rough grinding on a belt grinder, and then brings the blade to double-sided water stone grit 1000 and 4000.
Before the final tests, the author decided to slightly modify the pressure plate. He grinds off its upper cutting edge. So the chips will be removed much more efficiently.
The final assembly of the tool, the adjustment of the blade, and you can work! With the help of an eccentric, the adjustment will be very fast, simple, and convenient.
This is how you can handle the edges of a wooden block. In this case, the chips are smooth and long.
