The author of Instructables under the nickname Bruceaulrich wanted him to have a mirror with a steel rim, on a wooden base and with light. And made it do it yourself.
First of all, he takes a steel rim from an old barrel. Cleans it with a grinder with a wire brush (not bullshit, as in one of recent articles) Then it covers with polyurethane from a spray can. Not to be confused with polyurethane insulation, which is also available in cans. It is understandably not good.
The master makes a blank for the base from several pieces of boards about 20 mm thick:
From this blank, he makes a round base:
Grinds its butt:
Chamfers:
The wood defect is poured with superglue so that it does not creep:
Apply several layers of polyurethane varnish, each subsequent after drying the previous:
On the back side of the mirror (it’s ready, with its rim) glues a tape of the duct tape type to reflect the light of the LEDs:
He collects everything together with his assistant, adding an intermediate plywood circle glued with LED strip. That's where one of the previous photos came from - a plywood sheet from which such a circle was cut. Since heat is not removed from the tape, it is advisable to supply it with a reduced voltage.
Attaches to homemade holder, and an anchor designed specifically for drywall is screwed into a drywall:
Turns off the light, turns on the backlight:
It also looks great in the light:
And the interior item is ready, which, when the backlight is off, can even be mistaken for a vintage
