The homemade product looks interesting, looks like some kind of magical ball. Of course, you can show a little imagination and make your own adjustments. Everything is not going to be complicated, however, the author used a small turning machine. The light source is a 5V LED, there is a mini-USB socket on the nightlight, so you can power it from Power banka. If the project interests you, I propose to study it in more detail!
Materials and tools used by the author:
Material List:
- transparent resin for pouring the right volumes;
- dry twigs to your taste;
- wooden block;
- dye for resin;

Homemade manufacturing process:
Step one. We cast the workpiece
To begin with, let's make a base, it should be wooden with us. As the base we use a bar or a piece of a thick board. The base should be round, draw a circle and cut it out with any suitable tool, the author used his tape cutting machine.
Next, we make the formwork for pouring resin on a wooden base. It is possible to assemble such a formwork from a piece of a bottle, connect the ends with tape, and reliably glue the formwork to the tree with hot glue. Before pouring resin, make sure that it does not leak anywhere, the resin is very fluid. We put dry twigs into the formwork to your taste and now you can pour the resin. The author added a little dye to the resin, the color can be chosen at your discretion.
Step Two Turning
When the resin completely hardens, carefully remove the formwork and proceed to the processing of the workpiece on a lathe. From the resin we need to carve a ball, it should turn out on a thin leg, which then will need to be cut. As soon as the ball is ready, we grind it first with coarse and then with fine sandpaper. After polishing, the ball will become dull, in order to return the resin to transparency, it must be carefully polished. The author gradually reduces the grit size of sandpaper, right up to finishing sanding with 2000 grit sandpaper. In order for sandpaper to work well on the resin, you need to grind it with water.In the end, it remains to polish with polishing paste.
Now go to the base, cut off the epoxy part from it and form the desired shape. After polishing, the author polished the wood with polishing paste. On the side of the base we pre-drill a hole where the socket for connecting the power source will be located.
Step Three Assembly
We glue the epoxy part to the wood using thick epoxy glue. We make the resin backlight, the author puts a small board with an LED and a resistor, we have a 5V LED. A mini-USB socket is mounted on the side of the lamp; the author pasted it onto black hot glue. Everything is ready, we connect the 5V power supply and enjoy the sight!
