Various homemade from PVC pipes, descriptions of which are not uncommon here, may look more interesting if, using the advice of the author of Instructables under the nickname zaphodd42, apply a coating that imitates the surface of a tree. Of course, it is impossible to process pipes that are used for their intended purpose, that is, for pumping various media.
The master takes a sample of the PVC pipe, as well as such a file as in the photo, 100 grit sandpaper and oil paint, the color of which depends on which tree to imitate. Acrylic paint instead of oil is suitable only if some protective coating is then applied on top of it. Otherwise, over time, it will move away from the pipe.
The master also advises taking a cloth, wire brush and respirator for this work. Which he puts on before the first operation:
And the operation consists in using the sandpaper to make the surface of the pipe more rough:
The translator doubts that a respirator is generally needed here - not fiberglass is processed. Next, the master takes the file and processes the pipe with its side, which is shown in the following photos. Removes removed fibers from the pipe and file with a brush. Then it processes the pipe on the opposite side of the same file.
The master applies a thin layer of paint, which is then rubbed with a cloth. The paint lingers in the bumps obtained by file processing. This imitates the surface of the tree.
You can stop at this result, but it’s more interesting to go further, and ...
Now it’s quite difficult to guess that once it was an ordinary PVC pipe.
