Kazu pickup

Kazu is a small-sized musical instrument that is played in the same way as a comb - they simply sing into it, and it modifies the sound like a limiter in a guitar "lotion", adding harmonics, but leaving the melody recognizable. Thus, to play the kazu, as well as the comb, it is not necessary to know the notes and be able to tune something. Playing music on this instrument can become more interesting if you install a pickup on it. The simplest of these is piezoelectric, like the one that is often installed on acoustic guitars. Not to be confused with an electromagnetic pickup, more commonly found on electric guitars. Let's see how the author of Instructables coped with the task under the nickname Ok Housecat.

The master takes the casu itself, a piezo emitter, two conductors, a jack jack, a cover and a glue gun with a rod:

As well as paint, as it is about to paint the instrument. But this is optional.

Drills a hole for the "jack" in the casu case. Temporarily seals all openings through which the solvent, which is part of the paint, can get inside. Inside is paper oscillating while playing an instrument. If it just gets wet and then dries, nothing bad will happen. But if it breaks, the kazoo will stop modifying the sound.

The master applies the first coat of paint and waits for it to dry completely.

He glues strips of tape, hangs the kazoo by a stick glued with hot glue, applies a second coat of paint in another way - by lowering the tool into a bucket with it, gently smears the paint so that it looks like a stone surface, again waiting to dry.

It is the turn of the piezo emitter - the master reduces it as shown below. In this case, it is impossible to bend the plate - piezoceramics crack. The master tries on the reduced piezoelectric element on another, unpainted kazu.

Solders conductors to a piezo-emitter. One of them must be soldered quickly so as not to dissolve the two-layer coating (silver bottom, solder top) on the piezoceramic disk.

Drills holes in the cover. Drawing does not matter, the main thing is that they be.

Passes conductors as shown below, solders them to the terminals of the "jack":

Glues the “jack” with hot melt adhesive:

You can connect the adapted instrument to the amplifier directly or through "lotions". The input should be designed for an acoustic guitar with a piezoelectric pickup. Ways to prevent acoustic feedback are the same as when connecting such a guitar.

Remember the joke about the teacher who corrected the word “wallpaper” to “both” on all price tags in the construction market? Here she would fix the "kazu" on the "goat". Well, in the dictionary of the touch keyboard this word is.
