Hello everybody. Recently I gathered myself a new grinder and the old device for forming a knife wedge was no longer suitable. Searching the Internet found this device and for some reason it’s called a bulldozer, probably because it looks like it.
The descent or as the wedge is also called, are of different types for different purposes. Nowadays, modern masters mainly make descents on the grinder. There are still people who just ground on ordinary, and the very old believers who form the descent manually with different stones, it’s much more accurate, but the time is much longer.
I have one friend, he makes descents with a grinder and he does it very beautifully. It's easier to work on the grinder and the human factor is already minimal and time is running out very little. I myself sometimes form slopes with a file, but this is in a situation where it is not convenient on the grinder or requires jewelry work. In general, for a business knife, it is necessary that the arsenal should have more than one device for different works. With this device, you can only work for direct descents with different angles, well, and for the formation of a lens, that is, a razor wedge is no longer suitable.
The network has different adaptation options, and realizing the principle itself, I decided to collect along the way from what is, but the choice is not great.
And so, looking for suitable material, he began to manufacture.

Material
- 2 sheets 50mm by 150mm
- 2 springs and a canopy
Getting to work
I disassemble the canopy as it is collapsible, throw out everything unnecessary and instead of the factory bar I set it more authentic and weld a little so that they open freely and do not play anything.
Then I weld to the plates, I apologize for welding - how many times you scolded me here, I have not learned how to cook, but for now the main thing will come down, it holds on. Now we need some kind of mechanism for our platform to regulate the grinding angle - for these purposes, I took a piece of a 4 cm corner, and from the center I welded 2 m6 nuts to it. And welded to the site about the right place. For adjustment, I took a six from a wire, made a hook, cut a thread, tried it on like that and left it.
Now you need to make the platform stationary from the back side, boil 4 nuts at the edges. I found two springs suitable for the length, put them in place, how to adjust the tension. I twisted the bolt and everything is regulated, the maximum angle and the minimum are visible in the photo.
To stop the knife, I screwed the screws so far, in the future I will redo the drill and cut the threads in different places for different blade widths.
I use a clamp to attach the blade. For fastening, I first made two holes on each edge of the hole and found a small piece of 3mm metal, drilled the holes and fastened everything to the bolts - it clamps very tightly. But often I had to unscrew the bolts, and decided to use a clamp. Well, that’s all, the instrument is ready.

This is the easiest way to execute, even I’ve crooked-handedly assembled everything in an hour, sorry for the look, now there’s nowhere to paint winter, I’ll surely paint it, but now I use it, I like it very much, it’s easy to choose it, I choose to try it in any way I did one knife while everything suits.
I also saw a device called an airplane, but something did not dare - I was not confident in my abilities. Well, in general, the conclusion is this: time is not wasted, but how much is saved is not counted. Do not judge by the appearance and those people who work by welding - forgive me someday I will still learn.
