Turn an ordinary paper flashlight into a fantastic lamp in just a couple of simple steps. Although this chandelier does not provide bright lighting, the room with it looks fantastic, flooding with soft light.
Step 1: Preparation
I took a simple yellow paper lantern from Ikea. On A3 paper sheets, I marked it every 2 cm, and then cut it into strips with a convenient cutting machine. Stripes 4 cm wide and 11 cm long were cut into triangles - I just cut each strip diagonally. Their asymmetry does not play a big role, since we will have many layers, and all minor flaws will be hidden.
Step 2: First few layers
I glued the first circle of stripes inside the bottom section of the flashlight. Then I turned the lantern upside down and glued the remaining layers of strips already from the outside. The lowest layer of strips needs to be bent so that they look more down than inward. The glue needs to be applied to the tiny top strip of each piece of paper, as the rest will just hang down.
The frame of my flashlight was made of wire twisted in a spiral. I used these grooves to stick paper strips. The spiral went to the very top, so I just glued the strips until I reached the top of the flashlight.
Step 3: Final touches
Although this lamp requires patience, it will not take you very much time. Once you have reached the top of the lamp, make sure that the paper strips cover it completely, without any spaces through which the flashlight shines through. As for me then craft It looks better, so I pasted a few strips on top of the base layer to mask my slips. Somewhere in the middle of the lamp, I found that it would be more convenient to finish it in limbo. So the strips will not bend or accidentally tear.
Finally, hang the lamp on the ceiling and enjoy the beautiful light!
Of course, if you use colored or patterned paper, you get another beautiful effect. But do not take thick paper, it is necessary that the paper transmit light. Also, colored paper will give a colored glow. Choose what you like.
