Table lamp with hydraulic switch

In this article, the Wizard will show us how to make a lamp with a tank filled with saline, which acts as a switch. The lamp lights up in a horizontal position and turns off vertically.

The layout and assembly of the lamp is very simple and does not require any special knowledge, materials or tools.

Tools and materials:
-Two LED bulbs;
-Wire;
-Power Supply;
-Insulating tape;
-White acrylic sheet;
-Transparent acrylic sheet;
-Board;
-Glue;
-Scissors;
-Water;
-Salt;
-Blue pigment;

Step One: Design
The master designs the luminaire so that it turns on when it is in a horizontal position and turns off in a vertical position.

The acrylic tank is filled with saline. Saline solution serves as a conductor of electricity. Through it, a circuit closes. LED lights are installed in wooden cases at the ends of the tank. On top of the case are closed white acrylic
The master chose a rectangular shape for the lamp, this shape is convenient for both vertical and horizontal position. The dimensions of the lamp are shown in the second figure.

Step Two: The Framework
The size of wooden frames is 70x70x30 mm. The material from which they are made is Chinese pine.

Step Three: Tank
The master made a container from an acrylic sheet 3 mm thick. Acrylic can be cut manually or using a machine.
The master drilled small holes in the end parts of the container. I installed wires in the holes. Then the holes are sealed. Glued the tank body. Made a saline solution in a ratio of 1: 1 (water / salt). A blue color was added to the solution. Fill the tank with a solution (half). I glued the lid of the tank.

The file for cutting can be downloaded below.
container.dxf
Step Four: Diffuser
The master made diffuser cases out of white acrylic. Inside the cases, the master installed LED lamps and glued the diffusers to the wooden cases.

The master attached a file for cutting acrylic.
light housing.dxf
Step Five: Build
Now you can assemble the lamp. The master makes electrical installation on this scheme.

It makes the assembly of the lamp. Connects the power supply.

All is ready. The lamp is working.

Dmitrij,
Here is a link to an article where a fighter threw a grenade unsuccessfully and it flew into his trench. So, the officer managed to push the soldier out of the trench and covered the Light Grenade with his body.
The officer rescued the private with an unsuccessful grenade throw
If not confused, Putin awarded the officer posthumously, of course.
P.S. This is what I do not understand and do not accept. brought the grenade to the proper state and threw it. And then all the servicemen are there, but the combat throw is weak, the hand cannot. Baska cannot boss
filkar2005,
Listen to everything and don't make me nervous. Remember how the ship pulled carrying thousands of kilograms of various explosives. The court acquitted the captain of this ill-fated vessel, but you cannot return the lost people of the coastal zone and the town.

Ordinary household gas explodes only in a certain concentration and with air (oxygen). I know this better than the Ministry of Emergencies. In the house where he used to live, in the next entrance, my classmate’s uncle did this

I (and not only me) fell off the bunk, German shepherds crap. I opened the window, I look there with a dozen of our then fire engines and 4 ambulances.

Then our house was "restored". Estimate, next to the 9-storey building, rails were laid and the tower crane worked. It’s good that the freak lived on the top (9) floor. The main energy went up.
Hydrogen with oxygen from the light does not explode, and generally do not explode scientifically, but quickly burn out. In general, explosive gas is less dangerous than chlorine with hydrogen.
and what makes a fuse in TNT? It makes a microexplosion, locally increases the pressure from which the explosive itself explodes.
And in detonation motors? From excessive compression of the fuel mixture. Yes, no detonation without pressure does not happen. But it is, a personal thought.

Even as they are. Nitroglycerin, explosive mercury, Bertoletova salt, etc. detonate from impact.
In mines, methane impurities explode from the light. Also a mixture of chlorine with hydrogen.
Explosive gas detonates from temperature.
And the fuel often detonates not from pressure, but from the temperature that arises as a result of pressure increase at a constant volume.

The incendiary devices often posted on this site, based on the diesel effect, just confirm the possibility of detonation based on an increase in temperature due to a decrease in volume = increase in pressure.

What is detonation, I know. But there was an assumption that it could explode from pressure, and not from detonation. But yes, I admit that I was wrong. Such a thing could detonate. Chlorine with hydrogen can explode even due to sunlight, with the formation of hydrogen chloride, so it is doubly dangerous.

Communicated with his friend.
We sit drinking (tea), he asks me a question, why does he hear the whistling of fragments from the rupture of the Second World War ammunition
And so, guys and girls, that the fragments of ammunition fly apart at a speed above the speed of sound.

Considering that a container with salt acts only as a conductor of electricity, I see no reason to use it at all, a reed switch and a magnet, or a steel and aluminum electrode and the same magnet, or a conical spring with a ball, etc. - excess water.

What is a Detonating Cord Know?
Detonating cord

I like the film where our actor was filming, well, someone who is older knew how he gives a sip of water from a teapot to a buried man in the sand ...

R555,
It's a shame for the power ...

R555,

Nine grams in the heart .. Wait a minute, don’t call..

R555,
True, there is a typical kink in this film. Shoot the enemy when he just looks at you with Mauser, and you from Nagan already killed him.
filkar2005,
Do you even know what detonation is? This is before .... Admin barred boss
And where does aluminum? Especially without an oxide film? The question comes down to the explosiveness of a mixture of chlorine with hydrogen, under slight pressure, in the light. The rest does not apply to this homemade work.

I say that hydrogen with chlorine in small quantities does not detonate at low temperatures, in a closed container, and you say that aluminum (pure) decomposes water. The argument that a container can explode due to overpressure rather than temperature is also a little wrong. This is not a water pipe! This tank is probably tight only for water, and gas, especially hydrogen (passing through the walls of the balls), will quietly seep through the walls. And the time when the device will be turned off is enough for the pressure to equalize. But gas will be released in safe quantities.
Dmitrij,
For now, I’ll tell you about a rather interesting fact, few people know. Take a piece of aluminum wire from a wire or cable, preferably thicker. Dip it in a transparent container with water and tyranny file (UNDERWATER, NOT AIR) and you will see how aluminum begins to decompose water with the release of hydrogen bubbles. This metal is relatively neutral only in air due to the oxide film, which, by the way, conducts current well, so you can clamp such wires under the screw and even twist, as before it was completely normal according to all regulatory documents boss

R555,
And further. I’ve thought about the text of the quotes and I’ll say something interesting.
What is the water in the heating system? Technical, you can’t drink it. And why? But because it has additives against the formation of scale in pipes. So much for the electrolyte. Aluminum radiator plus fever (summer). And some water in the radiator could remain. And individual taps were closed when the heating season was still ongoing, and the yard was already hot. So, an increase in the pressure of water vapor in the mixture with the released hydrogen occurs, which leads to the explosion of an aluminum radiator. There is an explosion without the release of thermal energy, but purely due to excess pressure. This is my version, maybe crazy, or maybe not. I’m not afraid of criticism.
filkar2005,
Dear experts! in hermetically sealed aluminum radiators, as indicated in the literature, there is a catalytic decomposition of water into oxygen and hydrogen. In summer, at room temperature, the radiators explode. I am not a chemist, but none of your colleagues could answer me why this is happening. T-ra self-ignition of explosive gas above 500 degrees (looked specifically). In our literature (I do heating) there are no explanations, only a statement of facts.

Maybe someone will clarify this issue?

Thanks in advance!

No catalytic decomposition of water occurs; this process is not possible at all.Elementary hydrogen accumulation occurs as a result of the reaction of aluminum with water, the latter can occur if the water has an alkaline and acidic pH, or if aluminum is galvanically connected to other metals, for example, with a steel pipe, or a brass part, and the water is mineralized. Those. a galvanic cell is formed.

I think you need to wait. If the master publishes another article, then everything is fine, if there are no articles, we will pray for peace. scares
filkar2005,
Do you know how a mixture of hydrogen and chlorine behaves in the light in a sealed container? To consider laziness, I categorically affirm nothing, but the creation of an explosive mixture is likely.
Explosive gas spontaneously ignites at atmospheric pressure and a temperature of 510 ° C. At room temperature in the absence of ignition sources (spark, open flame) explosive gas can be stored indefinitely

Do you often have a solution of salt in water heated to this temperature? (If you do not boil).
The gas released is so small that going up, it is likely to dissolve in water and will not leak out at all.
Chlorine will definitely remain inside (if the container is tight enough), and hydrogen will slowly seep through the walls, leaving out in safe portions.
So that is the "crown". And here is not enough. The finger-type battery is also not enough, and the crown is barely enough (fresh).

250 amperes Two hundred and fifty million amperes? xaxa
- 250 milliamps

A finger-type battery is enough for electrolysis. And the crown, as they said, in general will catch up with such a bulb that the lamp will explode from detonation of detonating gas.
- there will be no explosive gas in any case! There will be a mixture of hydrogen with chlorine and it will never detonate!
I was also involved in electrolysis. BUT FOR NORMAL ELECTROLYSIS, the crown will not work. And from the finger battery - bubbles once every half a minute. This is perfectly normal for a closed container.

Do you know what current strength is needed for chlorine and hydrogen to become noticeable in significant quantities? (not only chlorine !!!)
It is not normal to decompose water and salt with such a power source. (250 mA) It must be very unlucky. It is clear that some amount will be allocated, but very small and completely safe. This is no more dangerous than washing your hands with chlorinated tap water.

filkar2005,
Place a solution of sodium chloride and dip into it 2 copper wiring (position it side by side) connected to a fresh Krona battery. And you will see the bubbles on the electrodes and sniffing you will understand that it smells stronger than the tap water xaxa

Dmitrij,
Hi, electrochemists! Do you even know what gas is released during the electrolysis of sodium chloride? I know, experimented. Chlorine, that's what! boss

Therefore, there is no need to worry about the gas outlet. Just give this lamp to your enemy xaxa yahoo
But what about the gas outlet? A very long time, but will gas accumulate over time?
I would also highlight the solution, and put some boat there (Aivazovsky, damn it)!

The idea is interesting. But as often there are flaws in the description: 1. nothing is indicated about the light source. 2. The supply voltage and the current consumption are not indicated, but at significant values gas will be released from the saline solution, and the tank may lose its tightness. 3. The electrical circuit contains an error, and if you repeat it, there will be a short circuit in the power source. 4. It is unrealistic to make a 1: 1 salt solution, because at 20 degrees Celsius for the preparation of a saturated saline solution, it is possible to dissolve 35 grams of salt, and no more.

Guest Gennady [/ [b] Guest Gennady,
Specification: saturated saline: 100 grams of water and 35 grams of salt.
