Hello friends! I want to recommend you do edge knife for processing the edges of laminated chipboard. With it, you can easily and quickly do perfectly flat edge on chipboard. This unique tool is useful to any master!
Many make various chipboard furniture - shelves, tables, cabinets. And after sawing the material to the edge with the help of an iron, an edge tape is glued.
The width of the edge tape is always slightly wider than the chipboard itself and therefore the excess edge is usually cut with a construction knife.
And it often happens when cutting edges, the knife cuts directly into the "meat".
This greatly spoils the appearance of the part, and if the edge is glued to the countertop, it is processed even harder - the edge for the countertop is thicker and denser. But you can make a perfectly smooth edge very quickly and easily. To do this, do edge knife.
And to make it very simple from just two small scraps of the same chipboard in just 5 minutes.
What will be needed for manufacturing edge knife:
1. Two small chipboard trim.
2. Two screws.
3. 1 blade for a construction knife.
You will need tools:
Pencil, Ruler, 3mm Drill and Drill, Screwdriver
So let's get started. On a small chipboard trim, draw a line 10mm from the edge.
And drill a 3mm drill on this line 2 holes. The distance between the holes is 50mm.
A small piece of chipboard is superimposed on a slightly larger chipboard with a rotation of 110 - 120 degrees.
Self-tapping screws are inserted into the holes and twisted all the way, while two chipboard trimming should be tightly compressed.
Now you need to loosen the screws by one revolution, so that a small gap appears between the chipboard. Insert the blade into it with the edge outward so that the nose of the blade protrudes by 3 mm.
When the blade is exposed, tighten the screws firmly. All! The edge cutter is ready.
The cutter works on the principle of a planer. Only he does not plan a plane, like a plane, but cuts off the edge. Passing such a knife along the end, the excessively protruding edge is cut quickly and perfectly evenly.
Such a tool significantly speeds up the work and improves its quality. When working with chipboard, such an edge knife is an indispensable tool. If you still have questions about making an edging knife, you can see the manufacturing process in my video.
I recommend to do this edge knife and store it with tools, it takes up little space, but if you need to make a high-quality edge, it will be enough only to screw a new blade and the tool is ready to work.
I wish you all success!
