The benefits of using vertical flower beds
The main advantage can be called the fact that when using the minimum occupied area, this flowerbed can decorate the entire plot as much as possible.
Among other things, placing plants in small containers and at various levels along the vertical supports, allows the gardener to facilitate the entire process of caring for green spaces. Since in such flower beds there is no need to mulch the soil or to weed. After the process of flowering, at any time, plants can be replaced, and thereby ensure constant flowering of the composition.
Process of creation
The material for hanging flower pots used in the manufacture of flower beds are plastic containers that are sold in specialized stores, or ordinary baskets of willow twigs. You can also make a vertical flowerbed using a heater created on the basis of foil material. The main advantage is that it is able to maintain the necessary conditions for favorable plant growth.
To create a vertical flower garden we need:
1. Thin insulation made of foil material measuring 160x170 cm.
2. A core from strong material or a wooden level.
3. The rope is strong enough to support the weight of the structure.
Initially, we fold in half our piece of foil material. In the upper part, it is necessary to provide a small drawstring with a width of not more than 10 cm. Subsequently, we insert into it our wooden plank or, in advance, prepared rod, and fix it all with a rope.
Stitch the folded rectangle around the perimeter. The sizes of pockets are selected depending on the selected plants for landscaping. For example, in our wall-mounted flower garden we will make 8 pockets placed in pairs on top of each other. The size of each pocket is 40x40 cm.
Then we proceed to stitching pockets along a pre-defined contour. In the upper part of each pocket, using a clerical knife, we perform a long arcuate incision. As a result, we get a half-open valve through which water will flow from the upper pockets. We prepared the basis.
We fix the bar in the drawstring and hang our flower garden on a support. We put one portion of hydrogel granules at the bottom of the pockets received, on hot summer days it will provide our plants with the necessary amount of moisture. Then we lay out a layer of fertile soil in each pocket and plant the necessary plants.
To fill a flower garden of a similar size, you will need a 10-liter soil mixture pack and eight servings of hydrogel. The pockets of the flower garden that we created are quite large and will be comfortable not only in plants such as begonia and chlorophytum, but also in plants with a larger root system.
