In the spring I came to the site of a friend and found him in a dejected state. It turns out that at the end of winter, in their garden partnership, the thieves cut off all the electrical wires, dismantled and stole the hand pumps. Outside is the end of May, and gardeners are without water and light. We had to do something, and we decided to make device, with which you can pump water without electricity and a hand pump. An iron barrel was installed at a height of 1 m on a wooden stand; a water tap was mounted in the lower part at a distance of 8 cm from the bottom so that there was always a little water left in the barrel. The barrel was screwed up with a stopper, in which a hole 35 mm in diameter was immediately drilled and a thread was cut in it. A fitting was screwed into this hole, a hose with a small wire filter in the form of a strainer was attached to it. The hose was lowered into the well so that its end was immersed in water by 35 cm. After all this, the bottom of the barrel, into which water was previously poured with a layer of 8 cm, was heated with a blowtorch. When the water in the barrel boiled, steam began to displace air from it, which in turn began to flow through the hose into the well. Heating barrels stopped. The steam in the barrel condensed, the pressure dropped sharply, and water from the well went through the hose to the barrel. After 17 minutes, the barrel was complete. Inspired by success, after an hour the experiment was repeated. And again success. That's how my friend watered all summer, observing safety precautions.
