For almost 20 years I have been engaged in gardening and horticulture. The plot is located on a steep northwest slope. I had to make terraces, fence boards with boards, however, after 4 years they rotted. The fencing made of old tin turned out to be impractical as well, it warped, rusted and collapsed. Then I used a slate, cut each leaf into 4 parts and buried it to a depth of 25 cm. 10 years have passed since then, there are no damages to the fence, the ridges are aligned, rain and melt water do not erode them, every year we collect a good crop of vegetables and herbs.
In addition to food crops, there are many different flowers on the site: tulips on three sides, and roses on the fourth. With roses, a lot of trouble in the fall, when you need to protect them from winter frosts, to shelter. The first years he covered them with sawdust, but by the spring most of the plants were barking. I decided to cut them in the autumn at a height of 25 ~ 30 cm and spud them with earth. For all the years of such shelter there was no case of freezing or aging.
