Getting out in the warm season to the country, most people go to plant crops and care for them. And after a hard day in the garden, I so want to sit in the fresh air, watching the sunset. To do this, at least you need a bench, albeit the easiest. The rest will be doubly pleasant if such a bench is also made do it yourself from virtually unnecessary material.
In our video, we suggest you see one of the options for creating such a country bench without any mounts.
To create a bench from a simple log, we need:
- log;
- chainsaw;
- nail clipper or scrap;
- an ax.
In principle, besides this, nothing more is needed. No nails, no bolts, no screws - absolutely nothing.
We have a large log, or rather a felled tree with a thick trunk. We select the part of the tree where the trunk thickness is more or less uniform and cut the desired length so that the bench can then be moved without much effort if necessary.
At the initial stage, we will work only with a chainsaw and nail clipper. First, file cuts that indicate the total length of the entire bench. You can cut, of course, completely, but then the log will roll, it will not be very convenient to work.
The following cuts we denote the legs (support) of our bench. Saw to a depth of approximately to the middle of the log.
Then we make cross cuts between the planned support, the more there will be, the easier it will be to remove the excess part of the wood. Using a nail clipper, we break out the extra core of the tree.
With a chainsaw, we trim and finish the places where it comes out very unevenly.
After the bench has acquired a sharper outline of the side supports, we turn it over. And on the reverse side we also make cuts, only this time they should be half as much depth as on the reverse side. We also make cross cuts and remove everything unnecessary. Level the surface to make it comfortable to sit on.
Now we will clear our bench from the bark with an ax.After that, we sanded manually with sandpaper or a special tool that will save a lot of time. Having cut off the convex part of the tree from the support, we will give stability to the bench.
Now our bench is ready, if desired, it can be painted or covered with waterproof varnish.
