How to make a ottoman from a bucket

In your living room or in any other room do not have enough high chair or ottoman for seats? Then this project will interest you to transform a plastic bucket into a beautiful, decorative and practical ottoman do it yourself.

In our video, you will see the step-by-step process of creating such an ottoman.

For work, we need to prepare:
- centimeter;
- scissors;
- glue;
- furniture stapler;
- a plastic barrel;
- cutter;
- sewing machine;
- foam rubber;
- non-woven;
- a pen, chalk or a bar of soap.

Instead of a plastic barrel, you can also use a bucket without a handle or a large pan with a lid. The material must be plastic, it is much lighter than iron. The main thing is that it should be a large cone-shaped container, approximately 15-20 liters.

Flizelin can be taken in any color - it will be a ottoman cover. It is best to take a decorative fabric that will harmonize with the room and delight you.

First, take measurements from the container selected for the product: the upper and lower parts of the bucket - if they are different and the height.

We measure the dimensions on the foam and draw a pattern with a chalk, pen or bar of soap. Do not forget to take into account the height of the foam with the lid when creating a pattern.

We take scissors and begin to cut out the pattern.

Lubricate the surface of the bucket with glue and wait a few seconds for it to become sticky. Glue the foam.

Now let's cover. To do this, put it on the foam rubber, circle and cut it out. It will be a pattern. Lubricate the surface of the cap with glue and glue the foam to it. close the bucket with a lid pre-coated with glue the circumference of the lid with foam.

Combine, close and trim the excess height.

After that we take a non-woven fabric. We measure out the necessary length, the width with the allowance with the expectation that it is better to cut off the excess then we don’t have enough to do the work right away and ruin the fabric. Also try to prevent the fabric from warping.

After all the allowances are taken into account, we cut out the pattern with scissors. We apply it to the foam, first in the upper part, then around the entire perimeter of the bucket. The excess can be cut off from above, and it is better to leave below. Then we need it when making the bottom.

We are sewing a fleece cylinder. To do this, we fold the fabric in half, so that it is easier to sew the circle, it is necessary to cut in the middle, and so that it does not pull when inverted. On a sewing machine, we proceed to stitch the cylinder.

Try on a stitched pouffe case. The fit to the pouf should be tight.

We cut off excess seam allowances. We pull the cover on the pouf and check how smoothly it sat.

Now we proceed to seal the bottom. I recommend that you first grab the fabric in a circle in several places, and then stitch it completely. To create the bottom, we take another piece of fabric - dustproof, cut out in a circle and sew it manually or using a stapler.

Our pouf is ready.
