To make a Skype phone, we need:
- a handset from a telephone with a cord;
- telephone jack;
- soldering iron;
- solder;
- flux;
- 2 plugs on 3 and 5 mm;
- nippers;
- a hacksaw for metal;
- a screwdriver with a drill 8 mm;
- glue gun.
First of all, a hacksaw for metal, we must cut off the bottom of the telephone jack. The incision must be made by stepping back a few mm from the protruding part of the outlet, as shown in the picture. We will no longer need the bottom of the outlet.
Now we need a system unit. Any system unit has two connectors: one for headphones, the second for a microphone. We measure the distance between them.
We transfer the sizes to the cover from the telephone socket and make two holes.
Now we disassemble both plugs, insert them into the holes and fix with hot glue.
We proceed to the connection. As you can see, there are two connectors for two handsets. To begin with, we need to strip the wires and twist together yellow with yellow wire, red with red wire.
Thus, we twist all the other wires.
Now connect the wires to the microphone. On the front panel, a microphone jack on the left side, respectively, connect the wires to the left plug.
The red wire is the plus of the microphone, and the green wire is the minus of the microphone in the handset.
We turn to the second minijack, namely to connect the speaker. The yellow wire is a plus, and the black minus.
After connecting the wires, close and glue the lid with hot glue.
If you want to make a holder for the outlet, then you will need a second piece of the outlet, where you will need to take a small piece of plastic.
Now, with glue, glue this piece in the middle on our outlet.
We bite off all unnecessary nippers.
Skype do-it-yourself phone is already ready, we can test it.
First, insert the adapter to the system unit.
We insert the handset into the adapter, while the computer should find the headset.
Make a test call and make sure the device is working fine.
