Most often, such a system is needed if you have built an external filter and you now need to somehow connect it. The whole question is how to make sure that water gets into this filter from the aquarium. There is a solution to this problem; it works on the ordinary laws of physics and does not require mechanized intervention.

To make a drain system, we need:
- 2 pieces of plexiglass;
- blanks of sidewalls;
- lighter;
- drill;
- glue;
- rubber tube;
- a hose.
Pieces of plexiglas should be the same in width, 8 cm and different in length. One piece is 20 cm. The second is 37 cm, and it should be divided by vertical lines, which are left-to-right with indents of 8 cm, 3 cm, 8 cm and 18 cm remain.
With the drawn lines we marked the fold lines. What is important to know when applying markup. At least 2 cm of margin should be left from each edge. This is necessary so that after bending plexiglass with some uneven bends, you can align the edges. The excess is then cut off.
In the places of the bend, we need to heat up the Plexiglas pointwise to get the S-shaped structure from a long piece and the U-shaped from a short one.
Sidewall blanks should be done in advance, they will be needed for further assembly of the drain system.
In a small part in the middle, heat the glass with a lighter and make a small deflection with a metal rod or handle, make a small hole in it. In more detail, we drill two holes with a diameter of about 1 cm.
Now we put a thin layer of glue on the edges of the parts and glue the side blank, trying to apply the edges as accurately as possible.
We grind the edges so that nothing sticks out anywhere and everything is smooth.
We insert a rubber tube into a single hole. We cut a piece of 20 cm from the hose. We insert it into one hole in the structure so that a short tip remains outside. We insert the rest of the hose into another hole in the structure.
We fix everything with glue and leave the structure to dry.
Our design is ready, we install it on the edge of the aquarium. Pour some water there.In order for the system to start working from it, all the air must be pumped out. Pump out the air through the mouth with a small rubber tube, which we then bandage.
If the design is tight, it will work for you. If not, you will have to check for leaks.
