How to make a welder lighter

Continuing the theme of welding machines and welds, we present to your attention the material for the manufacture of a welder's lighter. We have already examined how to make a simple welding machine, a home-made electrode, and even a holder for welding machines. It should be noted that such lighters are used in Western countries and make it absolutely safe to light a welding torch, which means that the idea of creating such a lighter is useful.

Let's move on to making a welder’s lighter, but before that we’ll watch a video

So we need:
- 4 mm steel wire;
- file;
- metal cover;
- pliers;

As a steel wire, you can use the old electrode, and the metal cover can be removed from the old capacitor, cutting off its bottom. Everything is clear with the materials, which means that we can begin the process of manufacturing our lighter.

First of all, we need to bend the wire. To do this, take the wire, mark its middle, take a half-inch tube and make a spring with one coil from the wire. For greater stability, you can slightly tighten the wire with pliers.

Next, take a file and cut a piece from it. We process one side, giving it a plane, and do not touch the other side. The notches on the other side will serve as a crystal. A piece of file should fit the diameter of the lid.

Next, we make bends on our wire. One bend should be longer than the second.

The next thing we drill a hole for the diameter of the flint on a short bend.

Now you need to drill a hole on the piece of file for the diameter of the wire. In order for flint to give a spark, you need to take into account the side of the file.

We draw a long bend through the hole and weld it.

The lighter is actually ready. It remains only to install a piece of file in the lid and attach it. If you wish, you can paint a homemade lighter, giving it a more beautiful look. Thanks to this useful tool, you can ignite the welding torch absolutely safely, since there is no need to keep a regular lighter close to the source of flame.
