It is known that polystyrene is often used to make a toy airplane or boat. We decided to devote this material to polystyrene, or rather a tool for working on it. It's no secret that working with polystyrene without a special tool is almost impossible, because it just just starts to crumble. We will produce a special jigsaw.
Let's see how the author does it homemade in your videos, after which we’ll try to repeat what we saw with our own hands.
So, what do we need:
- a wooden block for making a jigsaw handle;
- thick copper or steel wire;
- the wire;
- spring;
- self-tapping screw;
- nichrome or tungsten wire;
- saw;
- drill;
- drill;
- a thread;
- Super glue;
- varnish;
- a brush.
Just note that you should not use aluminum wire for the manufacture of a jigsaw, because aluminum bends easily, which will greatly complicate the work with the tool. We figured out the materials, so you can safely get to work.
To get started, take a wooden block and cut out a handle for our tool from it according to the size of our own hands.
We clean the resulting pen and process it to get slightly rounded corners.
Next, we need to drill a hole in the handle exactly in the middle.
Take a blade or clerical knife and make a recess on top.
Next, bend our copper or steel wire at an angle of 90 degrees and insert it into the hole and recess. Check that the wire does not stagger. If everything fits perfectly, you can proceed to the next step.
We take the thread and wrap the part of the wire that we must attach to the handle.
When everything is ready, insert the wire into the handle and glue it with superglue. A thread is needed so that the wire is firmly attached to the tree.
In order to make the pen less dirty, you can cover it with one layer of varnish, as the author does, however, we note that this is not necessary and you can skip this step if you wish.
Now you need to bend the copper wire as shown in the figure below.
Next, we need to drill a small hole on the inside of the handle and screw our screw into it.
A screw is designed to fix the spring.
Now we clean one of the ends of the wire.
We take a wire, draw a wire through it, twist it and at the tip we form a small floor ring.
We solder everything.
The second wire is soldered to the wire.
When everything is ready, you can scroll the wire with electrical tape and continue.
Next, we clean the end of the wire and make an annular groove with a file.
We take a nichrome wire and wrap it on top of the wire.
Next, we bring the second end of nichrome through the ring on the spring and pull it.
