Tin cans are usually opened using special "openers" for cans. When they are not at hand, then people have adapted to open cans with knives and other objects. It is not safe and not particularly convenient. But to facilitate the opening of cans, manufacturers came up with these "ears" like these, for which you pull and open the can:
But the problem is that these “ears” sometimes break before opening the can, or simply don’t have enough strength to pull on these “ears”, and this method is also not 100% safe - there is a danger of cutting yourself too early sharp edges of the can.
I will talk about two methods of manufacturing the device.
For the first we need here is such a wooden circle (it often remains after you make a birdhouse):
This circle must be carefully cut into two parts: one more, the other less. We don’t need a smaller part, but with the help of self-tapping screws we fasten a small bar to the greater part as shown in the photo:
We need a threaded hook (it can be purchased at any hardware store). This hook must be twisted into the end part of the wooden semicircle:
We take the can, hook the “ear” of the can with a hook twisted into a wooden semicircle using the strap we attached (it acts as a lever), open the can.
This is the first way.
Now I will tell the second way.
For him you need to take a small piece of a wooden round bar (a cut piece of a mop holder is ideal):
We make a hole in the beam in diameter suitable for a small (preferably metal) lever and from the side of this hole we twist a self-tapping screw.
Next, insert the lever into the hole and basically everything!
We hook the self-tapping screw onto the “ear” of the can and use the lever to open the can:
