If you have empty barrels, then they should not be thrown away. It is this material that can serve as the basis for your homemade furnace. A home-made oven from a barrel can warm you and your friends in the cold season if you stayed in the country.
In order to make such an oven, you will need:
• barrel
• Bucket with water
• Chimney block
• Stove door
• Feet
• pliers
• Set of screwdrivers
• Pipe
• Nuts, bolts
• Key
• Drill
• Protective gloves
• Cutting disc
• drill
Step 1
Take the barrel for the oven very carefully. Not every barrel is suitable for this purpose. In no case should you take the barrel in which the fuel and lubricants were stored or transported, as well as liquids that are flammable.
Fill the barrel with water, completely unnecessary, just one or two buckets of water. Water is required so that the barrel does not heat up so much during operation.
Step 2
It is necessary to attach the prepared door for the stove to the upper part of the barrel and outline it with a marker.
Step 3
Take the cutting abrasive disc and cut a hole along the contour of the outlined door. Performing this action, be sure to wear safety glasses and headphones. This will protect you from accidental splinters.
Step 4
Take your prepared door and attach it again to the cut out doorway. Mark the places where the mount will be and drill them. After that it is necessary to fix the door with the help of bolts. Tighten all bolts tightly. Work very carefully and carefully, without removing your goggles, be sure to wear protective gloves, remember that the steel in the places of its cut is very sharp. One careless movement and you can be very seriously injured.
Step 5
After you have installed the barrel door, you need to attach the legs. To do this, it’s worth lowering your “Barrel Stove” to the ground and marking and attach the legs there. Check that the barrel is stable on the surface and does not tip over.
Step 6
The next step we need to make a chimney for the barrel. To do this, take the chimney block and attach it to the side of our barrel. Take the marker and circle it.
After that, cut out this hole, and mark the places for block fastenings with a black marker as well and drill them. Take the chimney block and secure it with pre-prepared bolts.
Our miracle - the stove is ready. Clean it of residual water, make sure that there are no metal chips left. After cleaning, it is worth making the first firing of our stove. The first firing is recommended to be made very long and in the open. Only after you make sure that the “barrel stove” is functioning correctly and without problems can you place it indoors. When installing the stove indoors, follow the fire safety rules.
