We present to your attention another chemical experiment, during which we will turn a copper coin into a gold one.

What we need:
- a glass;
- zinc sulfate;
- pieces of zinc;
- copper coin;
- water.
Pour into a glass about 10 grams. zinc sulfate and dissolve it in 50 ml of water.
We put the glass on the stove and pour the resulting solution into it.
Next, put pieces of zinc in a glass, after which we put our copper coin in the same place so that it comes into contact with zinc.
Turn on the stove and simmer for about 15 minutes. During boiling, you can see that the coin is gradually covered with a layer of zinc.
The question arises, what exactly happens during this reaction? Zinc begins to give off ions, and the solution begins to fill with zinc ions. Copper, as a less electronegative metal, attracts more electronegative zinc ions, as a result of which the copper coin begins to become covered with a thin layer of zinc.
After 15 minutes of boiling, remove the glass from the fire and take out our coin. The coin, however, at this stage turned silver. Now we need to turn it into gold.
Turn on the stove and put the coin on the hot plate.
After some time, the silver coin turns into gold. This happens as the zinc layer begins to be absorbed into the copper, forming a beautiful golden layer.
