In the last material, we examined the method of manufacturing efficient and powerful slingshot for arrows. We continue the topic we have begun. This time we will review the video, which describes in detail the process of creating arrows for the slingshot mentioned above.
Start, as always, by watching the author’s video
So we need:
- rectangular wooden plank;
- die for cutting external threads by 12 mm;
- a die for cutting external threads by 10 mm;
- vise;
- knife;
- drill;
- sandpaper;
- steel or aluminum tube;
- tap for cutting internal threads;
- glue;
- a piece of thin plastic;
- stationery knife;
- a piece of canvas for a hacksaw;
- file
First of all, you need to give the base of the arrow, that is, the wooden plank, an ideally round shape. To do this, take the die, clamp it in a vise.
We grind the edge of the plank with a knife so that it easily fits into the die.
We clamp the second end of the strap into the drill, insert it into the die and begin to give it a round shape.
Next, we take the die a little smaller - by 10 mm and in the same way we reduce the diameter of the future arrow.
The next step is to take a small piece of sandpaper, with which we grind the boom blank, giving it a perfectly smooth surface.
Our stock is ready. You can start making the tip.
To do this, take a steel or aluminum tube 5-6 cm long and make a mark on a wooden blank in half the size of the tube.
Next, take a piece of sandpaper and reduce the width of the workpiece for the inner diameter of the tube. Although the author uses sandpaper, you can use a file or other convenient tool if you wish.
After that, we take a tap for cutting the internal thread, which will become the tip of the arrow, since the tap steel is very strong and does not blunt.
Cutting the thread in the tube, twist the tip.
We shorten the tip on both sides. Give the tip a sharp shape.
We take glue and glue the tube to the edge of the boom.
Next, take a piece of thin plastic and cut out two triangular figures from it.
The next step is to take a clerical knife and make a small groove at the back edge of the arrow.
With a piece of hacksaw blade we give the groove a more even shape.
Pour glue into the groove.
Glue the triangular plastic shapes.
At the end, we make a notch with a file.
If you wish, you can paint the arrow with spray paint, as the author of the idea does.
