An ordinary peephole can be a good replacement for a camera lens. If you like to experiment, then this homemade just for you.
For this homemade do it yourself you will need:
• Peephole
• glue
• camera
• Sandpaper
• Plumbing coupling (reducing)
• Piece of fabric
• A piece of felt
• Thick stretch
• Marker
• Sandpaper
• Hacksaw
• scissors
Before choosing a reduction clutch, measure the diameter of your lens and the size of your door peephole.
First you need to redo the clutch. Its initial appearance will not suit you. For our purposes, it is very long, and this is a guarantee that the resulting image will be of poor quality. Most of the picture will be dark. To do this, we need to take the coupling and cut it from two sides.
As soon as you cut the clutch, it is not recommended to pick it up immediately. Due to the friction of materials, it can become very hot and you can burn yourself.
Before you begin to cut the coupling, take a marker and outline the line along which you will cut. After that, stick the adhesive tape there, you can also fix a tight elastic band. This technique will give you the opportunity to very accurately cut the coupling, and in the future you will not need to adjust it to fit.
Best when cutting use a hacksaw and a vise. The vice will hold it tight, it will be in the correct position and will not slip. You can certainly do this without a vise, but then you need to be extremely careful and accurate.
In the adapter that we have prepared, it is necessary to insert our door peephole. To do this, you just need to insert it into the coupling, more precisely in its bottleneck. If you see that a gap has formed, then take a thin strip of fabric and gently wrap it around the eye. The peephole should fit very tightly onto the coupling.
It is worth paying attention to the sections of the coupling. As a rule, they have “burrs” that can scratch your camera lens. Take sandpaper and gently sand these places on the clutch.
After that, you need to take a piece of felt fabric, attach our coupling to it with a wide connector and circle the connector with a marker. Circle the line is the outer and inner diameters. Take the scissors and cut the resulting ring shape in a line. After that, the cut ring should be glued with glue to a wide cut of the coupling.
