Making a wooden knife stand

Many housewives face a problem when it is difficult to find a suitable knife in the kitchen. The reason for this is the lack of a stand, which allows you to store knives in an organized form and not lose them. Today in shops and supermarkets you can find a lot of different coasters made of a variety of materials, but why spend money on a purchase if you can build a simple wooden stand using small remains of wooden blocks.

How can you make a knife stand, you can find out by watching the author’s video material on this topic

So, what do we need:
- six short rectangular bars;
- two long bars;
- a piece of a bar of arbitrary length;
- two thick bars.

Let's start with a little explanation of the upcoming work. Note that all the details can be prepared without any problems. Small pieces of bars will directly hold the knives. We advise taking measurements from the largest knife. Two long bars will serve as slats on which the structure of small bars will be held. From a piece of arbitrary length, it is necessary to break off the chips that will connect the six bars and act as partitions.

We start by sawing chips that were chipped from an arbitrary block. It is necessary to obtain blanks of a square shape. In total, 10 squares are needed to place them between the six bars.

After the square slivers are ready, you can begin to assemble the first part. To do this, put two chips between two bars and adjust the width of the connector to the size of the knives. If you wish, you can place additional chips in the middle of one connector to place two small knives, as the author does.

After final adjustment, you can glue the structure. It is important that during the drying of the glue the structure is in a stable condition and individual parts are not staggered.

Next, we take large bars and cut out grooves on them to the size of two long bars, which will be used as planks.

Do not forget to process all the details with sandpaper so that there are no extra pieces left, and the design was smooth.

If you wish, you can cut off excess pieces of vertical guides or the same slats to give the structure a more harmonious look. And cut pieces can be glued to the slats, giving the details a small angle.

This will fit the holding part onto the slats.

We assemble the structure and glue all the parts together.

According to the author, a jumper can be added between the two parts that were made of large bars, between the two parts of the structure that he uses. This will make the holder more resistant and stiff. To do this, of course, is not necessary.

Also note that the tree cannot be left unprotected from moisture, especially if this tree is used as a stand for knives, which will necessarily be wet after the next washing up. Therefore, before the final use, it is necessary to impregnate the entire structure with wax.
