Standalone flashlight generator

A flashlight capable of charging a mobile phone can become a commonly used accessory. We decided to devote this article to a video review on the production of just such a flashlight.

Let's start by watching the author’s video

So, what do we need:
- stepper motor;
- four diodes;
- capacitor;
- two batteries from old motherboards;
- switch;
- the wire;
- LED bulbs;
- housing.

The author of the idea uses a stepper motor from an old printer. This type of motor is unique in that with a small rotation of the shaft, an electric current occurs. This is enough to make a flashlight with the function of charging a mobile phone. Also note that any plastic jar of a long shape can be used as a body.

We make a hole on the side of the case. Also, one hole must be made at the bottom closer to the edge. The large hole is for the motor, and the bottom is for the USB port. We also make one hole for the switch. After that, the case can be put aside and soldered electronic parts homemade.

We take diodes and solder them into a diode bridge.

An alternating voltage is supplied from the generator, that is, the motor, which passes through the diode bridge, which makes the current constant, passes to the capacitor, which in turn filters the current. After that, the filtered voltage should go to the batteries, which should be connected in series. Given that each battery has a power of 3 volts, the total power will be 6 volts. After the batteries, the voltage should go to the wires that are connected to the USB port and the switch. In the first case, it will be charging for the phone, and in the second - lighting the flashlight.

By this principle, while maintaining the polarity, it is necessary to connect all the wires and accessories of the generator flashlight.

Next, we collect everything in the case, thoroughly smearing everything with hot glue.

On the lid of the jar we make a mount for light bulbs.

Finally, connect the remaining wires to the bulbs.

The author also installed one LED bulb in the lower part and connected it directly to the motor. This light bulb will act as a kind of indicator that will light up when the motor shaft rotates and notify you when the batteries are charging.

I have in the fixprice "bug" stand not lithium batteries (3 pieces). LEDs can be powered either from them or from the speaker. It works without batteries. No storage element.
And I had an "eternal flashlight." So they were called. The design is simple: a coil, a powerful neodymium beckons about 4 * 1.5, a “tablet" battery - 3 pcs. To charge, you need to "chat" the lamp forward-backward, a magnet passing through a coil charges the batteries. There were rubber dampers on both sides of the tube body. The flashlight worked for a long time, and died when the plastic case could not stand it and crumbled. And it was not expensive, I do not remember the price, but not expensive. Well, a magnet remained to me as a bonus))))
Flashlight beetle from Fix Price simple bred. Such a son gave me a present when this store was just starting to work, and we didn’t have it yet. So, this flashlight works until the lithium batteries inside, no batteries are there, and this shaitan machine does not charge anything. After the batteries run down, no matter how buzzing this flashlight is, it shines only during a buzzing, and then in full heat. Yes, and what do you think, will anyone put batteries for such a price? I have one more miracle of technology, only more expensive, which really charges something inside, but in order for this unit to shine for about five minutes, twenty minutes, you need to twist the Dynamo knob intensively.

1. Diodes are preferably Schottky or Germanium.
2. Is there any capacitor?
3. The motherboards are lithium cells, not subject to charging.
4. And in the photo - LEDs, not bulbs.

It is not clear how the LEDs are turned on, most likely - incorrectly.
On the contacts of the USB-connector, I would put a powerful zener diode at 5.1 V.
Since the motor shaft rotates by hand, without any lever, it will be extremely difficult to use the flashlight.
Given that each battery has a power of 3 volts, the total power will be 6 volts.
March to school, teach physics.
Easily done on collector motors
Out of curiosity, I bought a similar thing in Fix Price, only lever-push action (remember the Soviet "bug"), there is a gearbox, engine - generator, battery, 2 LEDs, I thought it would die in 5 minutes, so no, the bastard is working! smile
Easily done on collector motors. And in order to get a significant voltage at the output, it is necessary to ensure the corresponding revolutions of the electric motor shaft (~> 300 rpm). This can be done with the help of an overdrive gear. How, eg

Where can I get such an engine or which one can be used instead?
