A candle can become not only a source of light, but also a beautiful decorative element. In addition to standard methods for making candles, they can be obtained chemically, which we propose to do in this review.

What do we need:
- a container with a metal cover;
- means for cleaning sewer pipes;
- food foil;
- metal tube;
- water.
A tool for cleaning sewer pipes consists of sodium hydroxide, which is needed to get a candle. Let's get started.
You should start by making a small hole on the lid of the container along the diameter of the metal tube that will be inserted into this very hole.
Insert the tube into the hole. If desired, you can strengthen the structure by applying a layer of glue at the base of the metal tube.
It is necessary to make small balls of foil, which in the future will need to be thrown into a container.
We take a can, pour into it a tool for cleaning sewer pipes. This should be done very carefully so that the alkali does not get on the skin.
Fill everything with water.
Throw foil balls into the mixture and close the container with a lid.
Now you need to wait until a chemical reaction begins in the container and the mixture dissolves. When the foil in the container begins to hiss, you can find out that hydrogen evolution has begun, which you need to set on fire.
When the candle goes out, you just need to add some more foil. According to the author of the idea, such a candle burns for a very long time.
When operating such a candle, some safety rules must be taken into account. Do not open the lid without first extinguishing the fire on a metal tube, since an explosion in the container may occur. Also, one should not set fire to the mixture itself in the container, otherwise the container may simply explode and cause harm to health.
