We will need:
- system unit;
- one-stage drill;
- drill;
- screwdriver;
- nippers;
- home phone with a key or with a zero lock.
If there is no phone with a lock at home, then this part can be easily purchased at a flea market or in a radio electronics store. Let's get started.
First you need to disassemble the phone and remove the lock. To do this, unscrew the screws with a screwdriver and remove the cover.
We use nippers to bite off the wires that go from the lock to the phone circuit board.
The lock fixes the clip, which must be clamped to remove it.
Remove the cover from the computer system unit by unscrewing two screws on the back.
Now you need to check which wires go to the button on and off the computer. The author's wires are black and red.
The next step is to make a hole in the diameter of the lock to install it on the system unit.
Through the hole you need to pull out the wires going to the power button on the computer. To facilitate the work, you can make a small hook from the wire, insert it into the hole and pull out the necessary wires.
We select either of the two wires, have a bite of the pliers and carefully clean the bitten parts.
The lock, which is a switch, has three positions. We select any two contacts and solder the bitten wire to these contacts.
At the end, apply a little glue from the glue gun and glue the lock into place.
The castle works according to the following principle. In the closed position, the system unit does not respond to pressing the power button. To turn on the computer, insert the key into the lock, turn it and press the button.By holding the button, the computer will not turn off, since the key can be removed only after returning to the closed position of the lock, so if you need to turn off the computer with the button, you will have to re-insert the key into the lock and turn it.
Thanks to this modding, the computer can only be turned on if there is a key to the lock. Thus, a stranger will not be able to enter the password to hack into the computer, because the computer simply does not respond to turning on without a key.
