You can make your own chest for storing valuables from pallets and pallets.
Step 1: Materials Needed
To make a treasure chest, you will need a few boards from pallets. You will also need three pieces of pine boards that will be used to make the sidewalls. They will serve as a reliable base for the chest of drawers and will be able to hold a lot of weight.
Other materials required for assembly:
• regular drawer handles in antique style;
• decorative latch in antique style;
• corners in antique style, for the lower part to avoid damage;
• loops in antique style;
• leather strips (or artificial leather 120 cm x 12 mm)
• small copper nails.
Step 2: Attaching the boards
To begin, determine the height of the chest. Then cut from the pine board 2 rectangles with a circular shape at the top as shown in the figure.
Attach the two sides of the profile to the base with wood glue and nails.
Then you need to prepare boards from pallets so that they can be attached to the sidewalls. Cut them to the required length. Attach the boards with nails. Spread them together with glue. Grind them.
Once you have attached all the boards, sand all the edges with sandpaper.
Use a jigsaw to cut off the top so that the chest can open. Check out the photos.
Now you need to cover the entire surface with stain and shiny varnish. Attach the hinges so that the chest closes.
Step 3: Installing Iron Elements
Now you can attach all the iron elements to the chest. Mark where the pens should be. Drill a hole. Be sure to drill the guide holes before screwing in the bolts, so you will avoid cracking the wood. Attach both handles. Now you can install the latch on the front panel, on the upper and lower sections.
Step 4: Leather Belt
Now you need to attach the leather straps that will be equidistant from the edges. Use copper nails and a hammer to attach the skin. Cut off the excess of the strap.
Step 5. Red Felt
Red felt must be attached to the inside of the chest with spray glue. Start with the top rounded section. Do not forget that the felt will stretch a little.
The treasure chest is ready!
