How to assemble a multimedia projector

How to assemble a multimedia projector

Probably each of us has tons of unnecessary rubbish that is a pity to throw away on mezzanines / balconies / garages. For example, perhaps you still have an old, so popular in the USSR, slide projector in your pantry. Nowadays it is completely useless and of no value, but you still keep it? Well, there is an opportunity to give him a new life by making a multimedia projector from it.

And on it you can watch movies, photos, or play the console.

What will we need for this:
1) an image-forming matrix. (The author took a small TV, however it is possible to use at least a pm3 player, at least a phone that plays video, it all depends on the resolution you need).
2) 25W soldering iron and low-temperature solder to it
3) Magnifier, without it it is quite problematic to deal with all contacts.
4) And it also took MGTF 0.03 wire, scotch tape, some plastic, a glue gun, a tester.
5) Fan and tube (needed to build a matrix cooling system)
6) A slide projector (any filmoscope is suitable for us, etc.) The author purchased for $ 75 a Chinese Super TV with not the worst 2.5 matrix in the world, and a resolution of 480 * 234 for such devices, as well as a video input that plays special role.

It should be noted that the matrix size was calculated based on the size of the same window, designed for slides in our projector. And anyway, similar TVs from China, but with a larger matrix, in spite of everything, have the same resolution (unexpectedly true? They just have larger pixels)

But to build all the perimetry from an empty sheet yourself consisting of a lamp, optics, a housing ... Obviously not worth it.

The connector of the loop from the matrix is located in the lower part.

And on the right is the backlight with all the wires, it must be dismantled.

We need only one element from there, this is the matrix, which turned out with a small loop, about five to seven centimeters long.
For our purposes, this is categorically not suitable.

Here we are met by the "genius" of a Chinese engineer: just a couple of centimeters of the width of this loop there are already 28 contacts!
But what can you do, without lengthening in any way. But still, the author recommends undertaking this procedure, only self-confident and self-confident, or you can entrust this operation to a more advanced one electronics and an experienced friend.

If you decide, let's get started! The author used a 25W soldering iron, low-temperature solder, a magnifier, and MGTF 0.03 wire was also required.

After fixing (for example, with adhesive tape or tape) the cable to the surface for which you will work, put a piece of plastic and achieve this result:

After that, fill it all with a glue gun, and proceed to ringing all 28mi (the points themselves are located on both sides of the board), then solder to them:

As a result, the size of the length of the loop you should have about 20 centimeters.

The slide projector used by the author:

Everything necessary for further work is already inside this projector: cooling, optics, which consists of a halogen lamp, reflector, lenses, a special glass filter and a lens:

In the window for slides, the author installed a matrix with a previously long loop and, for greater safety, installed additional cooling in the form of a fan and a pipe (this facilitated the work of the matrix at a temperature of no higher than 40 degrees, which in turn sharply reduces the likelihood of overheating / ignition) air enters through a hole designed for slides opposite the matrix itself.

Having thrown out all unnecessary mechanics, the projector acquired its finished appearance:

The standard fan has been removed; a diametric turbine has been installed instead. The blocks for powering the TV and fans were placed in the body of the structure itself. The noise level of the turned-on projector came to a minimum and acquired its final form:

To build a panel for it, you can look in stores for silver paint in the form of a powder, although even cardboard spray-painted with chrome is quite suitable.
Below you can see the approximate image quality.
