With active fishing, silicone baits are consumed quite actively. Silicone wears out quickly, clinging to the bottom and other underwater obstacles. In addition, such a bait is quite severely damaged by fish during bite. In this regard, it makes sense to learn how to make vibro-tails independently, in addition, this is a rather interesting process.
Using the approach discussed in this article, it is possible to produce vibro-tails of any shape, size and color. You can also experiment with attractants and make edible bait.
Tools and materials:
- old vibro-tails, silicone worms and other baits that have fallen into disrepair (or pure silicone);
- baits, copies of which will be created (that is, baits for creating forms);
- gypsum;
- a frame for filling (cardboard or sheet)
Manufacturing process
Step 1. Create a form
To create a form, the author puts the silicone baits in a frame, and then fills them with gypsum. It is not necessary to fill the entire form to the end, it is enough that the gypsum covers the bait, this will save gypsum.
After the mold solidifies, the silicone bait can be removed. Now the forms are ready and you can begin to fill.
Step 2. Fill in new vibro-tails
To melt silicone, you need to use a ceramic mug. Here all the old silicone baits are put together and then sent to the microwave for re-melting. The temperature is selected experimentally. It is necessary to melt the silicone until it becomes liquid.
After the silicone melts, it can be cast into plaster molds. Before pouring silicone, it is best to mix thoroughly to avoid air bubbles getting into the bait.
Step 3. Retrieving New Vibro-Tails
When the silicone hardens and cools, new vibratory tails can be removed from the molds. But before that, you need to work a little with a knife, cutting off the excess edges of the silicone.
