Kukan is such a thing, thanks to which it is possible to conveniently carry and store the caught fish.
All experienced fishermen know that such a product as kukan is very convenient to use, and especially in cases when you catch predatory fish (pike, pikeperch, perch, etc.) With its help, the freshness of the fish can be easily preserved until the end of fishing.
How to use a cook?
It is necessary to plant the caught fish on the kukan and lower it into the water. You can fix it on the belt of the fisherman, or on the stern of the boat. Thanks to the kukan, the fish will remain alive for a long time, swimming freely in the familiar environment.
How to make kukan?
In order to make kukan you must have the following materials:
- Hammer.
- Pliers.
- Bicycle spokes (6 - 10 pieces).
- Nut (1 piece)
- Swivels (size - 6) the amount depends on how many needles will be used. - Bicycle cable (1 piece from 1.5 to 2 m long).
- Sections of a shirt for a cable (length 5 cm). For 6 hooks you will need 11 pieces.
- Spring (length 2 cm, diameter 80 mm) quantity depends on the number of spokes.
So, it's time to get started.
Stage 1.
First of all, you need to retreat 5 cm from the beginning of the knitting needle and bite off the desired segment with pliers.
Stage 2.
The edge of the knitting needle must be bent, the length of the bent edge should be 1.5 cm.
Stage 3.
Now you need to make another bend on the spoke, such as the one shown in the photograph.
Stage 4.
It is necessary to measure 5 cm from the bent part, and then bend the spoke in the form of a ring.
Stage 5.
From the other side you need to do the same work, for example, which is described above.
Stage 6.
From the end, which was bent, it is necessary to retreat by 7 cm and bend it 100 degrees, after what is done on the workpiece, you need to retreat another 5 cm and bend it already 90 degrees. Such blanks can be made as many as you want. The quantity depends on how many hooks you need to have in order to hook the fish (6 pieces were made in this work).
Stage 7.
Now you need to draw the swivel through all the hooks to the circumference, and then put springs on each workpiece.
Stage 8.
So, it's time to tackle the cable. One piece of the shirt must be drawn to the end through the cable.
Stage 9.
After done through the swivel on the hook, you need to thread the cable to the very end.
Stage 10.
After each swivel you need to thread two pieces on each cable (you need to use two pieces, instead of one, this is necessary to increase flexibility).
Stage 11.
Next, you should do this operation with all the hooks.
Stage 12.
Then you need to make a loop yourself on the edge of the cable (for this purpose you will need a nut, a cable head and a hammer). Now you should thread the cable through the nut.
Stage 13.
After that it is necessary to rivet the nut with hammer blows. And in order to be sure, you can rivet the head at the end of the cable, so that the cable slides through the nut and to avoid loss of catch.
Step 14
The photograph shows a handmade kukan ready for use. It only remained to go fishing and catch a lot of fish for dinner.
As a result, I would like to add that such a product as a cook, can be made quickly enough, if of course you have all the necessary materials in stock. In addition, it is very easy to use. Having such a useful and necessary invention, you can always keep the fish fresh and alive for quite some time.
