Each of us loves to decorate our workplace, whether at home or at work. There is a bunch of USB flashlights, and luminous keyboards, but finding a good mouse pad with backlight is not so simple and their choice is more meager. Therefore, our own hands and improvised materials come to our aid.
Materials and tools:
- Plexiglas 4 mm
- Resistor
- LEDs of the color you like
- USB plug
- a two-wire wire long to the system unit or laptop
- glass cutter
- transparent glue
- soldering iron
- electrical tape
- foil
Detailed manufacturing description:
Plexiglas can immediately buy the right size, so that later you do not bathe with its cutting. If you have a piece of glass and you need to cut it into home conditions it is advised to use a cutter. The sheet rests on a flat surface, a steel ruler rests at the place of the cut, it is important that the ruler is level. Holding the ruler, along its formed line is drawn several times with a cutter, thereby cutting the sheet into half the thickness. After that, an unnecessary piece simply breaks off. In the end, the excess in unsuccessful sections is also removed with a cutter. Glass corners are rounded off for the mat.
Grooves are made in the prepared glass, you can also use a cutter (scratching them), but with a drill you will get more careful work.
LEDs are taken, preferably, which are shown in the photo.
In parallel, connected through a common resistance.
The whole structure obtained is placed in the groove, and filled with transparent glue. It will turn out approximately as in the photo.
Next, a USB plug is taken out, all wires are removed, and a two-wire wire is soldered to the two extreme contacts. An elastic band is put on for insulation, you can use electrical tape.
The second end of the wire now needs to be soldered to the resulting exits from the mat. Further, foil is glued onto the surface of the mat to scatter light to the sides.
When most of the work has been done, a picture is chosen that is more like it, cut to the size of the glass, and laminated in the nearest photo printing department. It remains just to stick it on the finished plexiglass.Work on the mat is finished and it is ready to use.
