You can make a very original driftwood table lamp on your own and without much difficulty. The design of this lamp is very simple. The main thing is that all the constituent elements are in harmony with each other and ideally fit. If you do everything right and slowly, then you can get such a decorative lamp. Fig. 1
List of necessary materials for the future lamp:
- a small snag,
- inner filling from the lamp,
- topcoat (but for wood),
- a light bulb
- lampshade
- drill,
- drill
- saw
- a piece of the board (select flat and square),
- screws
- sandpaper.
And now let's get down to making our desktop “scrubbing” lamp.
1. The first thing you will have to do is find the right snag for your project. It is advisable to take a branch or trunk of a non-thick tree. An ideal option would be if the wood is slightly deformed. If insects lived in it and left moves - there is no price at all for such a snag! But make sure that bark beetles and other insects do not live there. You may have to erase them from there. Otherwise, the lamp will last you oh how long. Fig. 2
2. If there is bark on the snag, then it must be thoroughly cleaned. Next, drill a hole in the snag, which in diameter matches the existing filling of the old lamp. Fig. 3
3. Now you need to cut the bottom of the snag. To make it even. Sand all places of cuts and drilling. If you want the tree to look more aesthetically pleasing and beautiful, and also last longer, then it is best to walk along the surface of the driftwood with varnish or top coat for wood.
4. Next, gently insert the filling of the old lamp into the snag. If you do not have one, then you can buy it at any flea market, in a thrift store, or you can take wires from an old lamp. Take the wire with the outlet out. Fig. 4, 5.
5. After all this, fix your snag on a flat bar. Use self-tapping screws.
6. Now insert the light bulb into the lamp holder. For such a project, do not buy light bulbs that produce heat during operation. Now check again if your lamp is working. Fig. 6
7. After all of the above, put on the lampshade. Now fasten it. That's all. Your original driftwood lamp is ready. Fig. 7
