Adaptation of a bicycle fork on shock absorbers to an inch glass

In modern times, more and more people are beginning to change to active transport - bike. The construction of bicycles is becoming more and more complicated, thereby pulling the price. Therefore, you have to invent something yourself and get out in order to save a bit.

I have a bicycle, already about 10 years old, gradually upgraded it myself a bit. And then joy fell on my head, a friend gave a used fork depreciation and removal to it under the steering wheel.

It does not matter that the wheels are 24 inches, and the fork under 26 inches, sacrificed front brakes. But then another problem got out, a glass on the frame under my inch plug, and a gift for 1 1/8 inch. Accordingly, the stem of the fork is thicker and my cup cups will not fit, they simply will not fit. Below are the different sizes of glasses, steering cups and fork rods.

It was decided unequivocally that it was necessary to buy a new steering kit under 1 1/8 of an inch and somehow connect it to the glass. I purchased the Longus steering kit, with the usual cups. In addition to the usual classic cups now exist - semi-integrated and integrated, are listed below.

Here is the composition of my kit

The outer installation diameter of the new cups coincided with the outer diameter of the frame glass. And then the idea came up, what if we make adapters for installing the outside of the glass.

It was decided that I sat down for measurements and plotting in the SPlan 7.0 program, because the program is simple and universal. Here's what happened:

Assembly of construction:

Having drawn the drawings, he handed everything to the turner. Rushed days of impatience and expectation. Four days later, the details fell into my hands, it turned out very nice and most importantly not expensive.

In addition to the drawing, he gave the turner and two cups of the steering kit, so that he would carve landing on the adapters with an interference fit.

Adapters degreased and painted with a black matte nitro paint, though from a spray can, PAINT. The paint is very good, does not float, is uniform and it is pleasant to paint it.

The glass at the top and bottom had to be filed and adjusted to fit adapters, because the glass breaks over time and becomes in the shape of an outer cone.

Having greased all the seats with solid oil, he stuffed adapters through the wooden tips and drove the upper and lower cups into them. It turned out very nice and factory-looking. I installed a plug in the glass, anthers, two spacer rings, a stem and pulled it off with steering wheel adjustment.

By the end of the work, on the Internet I came across almost such an implementation, but it hooked on what I first came up with than dug up.

In general, everything that was conceived and embodied at low cost. It looks decent.

I run in and very quickly got used to the new fork, and when it is embodied in my soul with my brains and hands it is warmer.
Creative success to all.
