Bladebait "Cicada" - the bait is not yet well-known among the fishermen of Ukraine and Russia. Information about this bait in fishing publications is extremely rare, and it is presented, as a rule, very poorly. But it’s a pity - the bait is rather interesting. When using cicada, a very high catch is ensured. For this reason, the use of spinners - cicadas banned in several US states.
Her advantages:
1) Only Castmaster can compete with it in casting distance.
2) It is best used for direct cast fishing, i.e. wiring in the form of a "step", as well as for plumb fishing (in winter it is also used as an ordinary vertical spinner) Used on trolling, as Can withstand wiring speeds of up to 10 km / h.
3) It has a frequency low-amplitude game (vibration) with sharp jolts-blows of the "petal" on the water, which can be caught by the side line of the fish at long distances.
4). Creates a certain noise during wiring. This noise is very attractive to predatory fish.
5) All the main carnivorous river fish are pecked at this bait: pike, perch, perch, ide, asp, etc. But since the cicada is a cross between a wobbler and a lure, then carp and bream are successfully caught on it.
Compared to the five advantages, there are two drawbacks:
1). From time to time it can catch a tee on a fishing line when casting and naturally break off.
2). High cost in stores. To fix the second flaw, you can try to make a circus yourself. For example, for the "step" to make a cicada in the form of a fish.
Cicada Making:
- For the production of a petal, an elegant sheet alloy (0.5-0.8mm) is used, it is better from stainless steel, but it is quite possible to use another one. The main thing is that the sheet of metal is light enough, thin and, at the same time, durable. Such requirements are necessary for the bait game to be as lively as possible. The stainless steel is most suitable for these requirements, but it is worth remembering that not all stainless steel is perfectly soldered. You can adopt brass thin sheets. We prepare templates according to which we mark out the necessary contours.
- In order for the play of the baubles to be “alive”, it must be given a concave shape. To do this, you need a hammer, whose firing pin is rounded, and a matrix with a width of 6 millimeters. The matrix must be put on top of the blank. Hammering on it, we reach a curved shape.The main thing is not to overdo it - if the form is too concave, then the game of the bait will be too fast.
- we solder the shipment. It requires a soldering iron with a power of 65 or 100 W and tin. If the petal is cut out of brass, then the place for shipment must be cleaned and treated with phosphoric acid. If the surface is not oxidized, then near the place of soldering it is necessary to stick adhesive tape. For the lower tee, it is quite possible to solder the loop after. However, a better grip will be obtained if laid on a blank and covered with tin.
After soldering the cargo of one part, it is necessary to proceed to the shipment of the second. This must be done scrupulously so that the first part does not melt. To do this, take a container of ice water and periodically cool the part.
After completing the work with a soldering iron, the bulge of the blank must be cleaned with sandpaper.
- Above, on the wing, you need to make several holes to hook the finished cicada spinner to the leash at different angles. You will also need a hole in the tail, where another double or tee is attached.
As the second option for the manufacture of cicadas, another technology can be used: from two aluminum plates, with the help of a punch, it is possible to knock out the spinner matrix - cicadas. Then lay the cut petal and, using the sprue, pour lead instead of the blank. It should be noted that before inserting the petal - along its edge (which you will be inserting) it is necessary to make several holes for sealing the entire product with lead. When using this manufacturing option, the soldering iron can be omitted.
The finished product has a weight of 7 g. up to 14 gr.
It remains to paint the product with waterproof paint and fix several hooks on it.
