Have you been thinking about boxing for a long time? Or maybe you are an experienced boxer who cannot imagine his life without daily training? This article will be equally interesting as the first and second.
A punching bag ... Such, in general, a simple shell, without which the training of any boxer is unthinkable. But what if you temporarily cannot go to the boxing gym or just want to be in shape without visiting specialized boxing sections and halls? Everything is very simple - install such a pear at home. Expensive? Not always! We offer you the option of constructing such a pear do it yourselfthat do not require special skills or abilities, and at the same time costing you a penny.
First you need to decide where to place such a pear. It should be understood that it needs a certain space, allowing you to normally carry out strikes and move around. Having decided on the place, it is necessary to choose the material from which such a pear will subsequently be made.
Such material may be:
- strong fabric folded in several layers;
- tarp;
- leather or leatherette.
Now a few words about each type of material:
1) Fabric. Affordable, but short-lived solution, as the fabric is not wear-resistant and can tear over time, and the filler will sleep out accordingly;
2) Tarpaulin. A better choice than fabric. However, tarpaulin also has several drawbacks, the main of which is connected with the texture of tarpaulin itself - making a bag out of tarpaulin, be prepared for the fact that it’s impossible to work on it with bare hands. This is due to the fact that the tarpaulin has a rough texture and will peel the skin off your hands when it is struck.
3) Leather or leatherette. The best choice for our purposes. Due to its very dense structure, even the smallest filler, such as sand, will not miss the skin, and even with your bare hands you can work out such a bag. However, such material has the highest price among all of the above, so carefully consider which material you need.The next question that needs to be solved when creating a punching bag is which filler to choose. As a rule, choose from the two most popular options: sand and sawdust. Sand allows you to make a boxing bag heavier and denser, while sawdust is suitable for making pears easier.
Having chosen the material and filler, you can begin to create the pear itself.
To do this, take pre-prepared material, such as leather, fold it in half and firmly flash it. Thus, we get a kind of “tube” of leather.
Next, you need to cut a small square piece of leather and sew its corners in such a way as to make a kind of circle. This circle must be sewn to the bottom of the bag, closing our “tube” from the bottom.
Then we are preparing another such circle for the second end of the future bag. Having prepared the basis for the pear, you should deal with its filling. To do this, we sew a smaller bag according to the same rules and stuff it with small pebbles, decrepit clothes or sand. Then it inserts a small bag into a larger bag so that the smaller bag is located exactly in the center of the larger bag. The distance between them is also covered with sand or sawdust. Having established weighting and filling the base with stuffing material, you can sew the previously prepared “cover” from our punching bag. Please note that all seams should be made with strong kapron thread, and in addition, we recommend sewing our bag three times and gluing all seams with glue for rubber products. And finally, it remains only to make fastenings on the bag and he is ready.
There are several ways to strengthen a punching bag. The first, lighter, using conventional metal carabiners for climbers, which must be sewn into the top of our pear.
The second option, which requires a lot of time, is as follows: it is necessary to cut a circle from a thick board equal in diameter to the diameter of the pear. Further in this circle it is necessary to drill a hole and install a rope for fastening in it. And finally, this circle with a rope or cable must be sewn into the upper part of the bag.
Where to fix the bag at home? There are a lot of options - starting from the horizontal bar, and ending with brackets specially installed on the wall, which you can buy at any building materials store.
Our bag is ready and will serve you for more than one year. Have a good training and sporting victories!
