Home-made all-terrain vehicle of the APP Sneak

Home-made all-terrain vehicle of the APP Sneak

And so one more interesting model all-terrain vehicle, this time it is much easier in construction, but still does not lose its attractiveness. And so meet all-terrain vehicle home-made design "APP Sneak". Pretty funny name for this all-terrain vehicle, the author chose it not by chance. Looking at the assembly points, you can notice the reliability of this all-terrain vehicle. Also, the name is very well chosen due to the driving characteristics of the car. She really feels great off-road, even where other cars will give slack.

And so for the assembly of the home-made all-terrain vehicle APP Ponyr, its author needed the following details:
(I want to note that the design of the all-terrain vehicle was assembled from what lay in the garage, and in fact there are not so many purchased parts, which is why I think this machine is very successful)
1) To start the internal combustion engine, it was used from an old Oka.
2) From the same Oka, in addition to the engine, the gearbox was also taken.
3) But the transfer case used to stand on a standard Niva.
4) That the rear, that the front axle, was also removed from the cornfield and mounted on the all-terrain vehicle design.
5) The suspension springs are transverse springs, a home-made design by Vitaly Mazurkevich.
6) As for the wheels, the rubber for them was removed from the Gas-66 and stripped. Thus, in the back it became 12-18, and in the front 13-18
7) From the VAZ 2108, knuckles were taken.
8) Home-made mechanical winch, the basis of the design of which is the gearbox from the Ural motorcycle.

Read more about the design and assembly steps of all-terrain vehicle elements.

To start, the tires were stripped:

As a result, almost 24 kilograms of weight was thrown off, which is quite essential for such a small all-terrain vehicle.
Stage assembly SHRUS:

So, for the excess was cut off from the wheel hubs, the spacer sleeve was machined, it is necessary to push the gearbox chains apart., The hub was welded into one unit. By the way, the axis was turned out 15 centimeters longer, it was required for the drum to move freely along the axis, a free stroke was obtained under 25 centimeters. Why is it necessary: if you move it to the gearbox, the splines will mesh, and move it to another, they will come out. This adds maneuver. Moreover, the drive shaft was welded with a shaft from the Oka, and comes from the second CV joint from the box. True, there is a minus; under load, it is unrealistic to shift the drum.
Here you can see the mounting of the springs to the frame, above the Volga, below the gas:

And here is the assembly stage of the winch with gear:

And above shows the beginning of the assembly of the cab on the frame.

Now with the case:

The stage of conducting new wiring, as well as installing a heater, as well as removed the tachometer and speedometer.

Assembled frame with installed engine, dashboard and seats:

Here are photos of the front and rear suspension assembled:

disc brakes were installed on all four wheels, and the braking design is constructed as follows: the front brakes are depressed from pressing the pedal, and the rear brakes on separate handbrake.

Photo of the painted frame:

Decor Elements:

The author verified in practice that a sandwich panel has better sound insulation, 24 mm, than even three layers of a 24 mm tourist mat.

There is a question for the community: how much are the wipers in demand? I understand that the thing is useful, (despite the fact that everything is prepared for them in the electronic wiring), but they often come in handy, given that we do not drive in a stream of cars along a wet track.
Here is a video showing the operation of the brakes:

Someone will think that it would not hurt to install larger locks and lugs, but due to the lack of locks in a compartment with small lugs, they add a considerable part of the survivability and service life of both bridges and CV joints, and this is much more important for the author.

At the very first exit on an all-terrain vehicle of this type, a distance of 123 kilometers was covered, although only 10 km was from why this all-terrain vehicle was called the Slick, the rest are the standard dry sand primer in the forest. Fuel consumption is quite acceptable, about 25 liters of fuel were spent all the way. But the most important thing is that the all-terrain vehicle showed itself exactly as it was expected from him, and showed complete readiness to be used for the purposes for which the author started it construction.

And in this video you can watch how the “fuse” on the winch works, where instead of the cable a regular nylon economic cord of only 12 mm was used.

And here you can see all the advantages of the all-terrain vehicle, excellent overcoming of obstacles, in this necklace only on the all-terrain vehicle

This model of an all-terrain vehicle, as the name suggests, can take you anywhere; it is not hindered by dirt, sand, or even water. In principle, what the author wanted, the model is completely ready, and performs the function of delivering both fishing and berries to the forest.

Well, lastly, about the disadvantages of the design, unfortunately there is a strong load on the bumps on the shafts, and they often fail. Over the entire period of operation, about 8 shafts were killed. Perhaps this is a design flaw, although the author simply writes off on a sloppy ride. In any case, even with a broken shaft, the all-terrain vehicle is able to get to the garage on its own, where it can already be replaced under normal conditions. Although the author in reserve always carries spare parts with him.

The author of this all-terrain vehicle under the nickname "tsiplev" Vitaliy from the city of Vladimir.

The all-terrain vehicle "Slicker" can not be called a crafts, of course. This is a serious engineering machine can be made exclusively by male hands. If the head of the family has even the slightest ingenuity and "golden" hands, then such an all-terrain vehicle will certainly be in his household. The thing is worth it. I had never imagined that a car can be made with your own hands.
Very impressed with the videos watched. This homemade all-terrain vehicle will give odds to any imported SUV. By the way, this year the exhibition "Inventor 2015" will be held in Moscow. Why do not the master participate in his work. At least, if not a victory, the invention will show its effect. Now many millionaires want something unusual.
By design, it turns out that the engine from the Oka rotates the wheels from the truck. Most nodes are also passenger cars. But after all, on a serious off-road terrain vehicle experiences great maximum loads. Transmission parts operate with high overload. This greatly reduces their resource. I think for an all-terrain vehicle you need to increase the margin of safety.
As I understand it, the author mainly pursued weight loss. And he did very right, because one of the main mistakes of many designers of such machines (not only wheeled - tracked, too) is overweight. Because of this, the car becomes too heavy and one of the most important qualities for an all-terrain vehicle is deteriorating - cross-country ability.
Serious all-terrain vehicle. True, I did not understand the practical meaning of "stripping" the rubber from the GAZ-66. Reducing diameter or something else?
