We need to have at hand:
- unnecessary hard drive;
- two screws;
- screwdriver;
- wooden block;
- a drill.
At the very beginning of work on an emery machine or similarly, it is necessary to make a small handle from a wooden block. Everything is done here at one’s own discretion, so the author skipped the manufacturing process and possible decoration of the handle. We will skip, moving on to the next steps.
We disassemble the hard drive. To do this, unscrew the 7 screws. The first 4 screws are on the upper washer.
After unscrewing the screws, remove the washer and the first disk, followed by another washer and the second disk. To make a knife, we need only one disk, so the second can be left aside.
Below them is a stepper motor, which is fastened by the remaining 3 screws. We also unscrew them and remove the engine by pressing on the back side.
We attach the handle to the mount of the stepper motor and mark the places where the screws will be.
Next, using a drill, a flexible shaft and a small cutter, we make a recess in the wooden handle along the diameter of the fastening of the stepper motor.
We fasten the engine to the handle.
We cut off the excess parts of the screws that may remain sticking out behind the handle.
We grind the back of the handle in the area of mounting the stepper motor.
We put a washer on the engine, on top of it a metal disk and another washer. Also, in place of the second disk, you need to insert a small copper ring so that the structure scrolls well.
We turn the screws to fix the disk on the engine. According to the author, the screws need to be screwed in more tightly to reduce the gap remaining due to the fact that one of the disks was removed from the structure.
The pizza knife is ready. In the end, it remains to sharpen the disc slightly if you need to cut the pizza thinner, since the knife cuts thin pizza without any problems.
