Hello, dear visitors of the site! Today in this article, the author will tell us about how you can yourself in home conditions and without special difficulties to make a home-made apparatus for distilling water. Also, this device can be used as moonshine (the principle of operation is the same). Make ours homemade we will be from a siphon and a Peltier element (a thermoelectric converter in which a temperature difference occurs when an electric current flows).
To begin, I suggest watching our video crafts, which is located at the link below:

For our device we need the following components:
- sewer siphon;
- heat-resistant silicone sealant;
- two metal sticks of approximately 30 cm each;
- silver heat-reflecting tape (in principle, you can use ordinary);
- isolon (material);
- enameled mug;
- cooler for cooling;
- the Peltier element;
- pan.
So, let's start making a distiller.
First, unpack the siphon and unscrew the lid. Instead, we should have an enameled mug attached:
Carefully with the help of a grinder, cut the handle from the mug and push the mug tightly into the plastic siphon cover that was cut off earlier:
We lubricate the fasteners with sealant and twist the structure:
Now we grind the upper part of the lid (that is, the bottom) with sandpaper and with the help of hot glue we glue the Peltier element on the bottom of the lid:
We also apply hot melt glue to the cooler and gently glue the cooler on top of the Peltier element like this:
Set aside our design and proceed to another. Take the lid from the pan and carefully cut out the hole in the center of the lid:
Apply sealant to the drain part of the siphon and attach to the hole in the lid:
Using a bolt we assemble the structure.
Next, you need to make the pan also hermetically sealed. To do this, apply sealant around the perimeter of the lid, press the lid to the pan and fix everything with two metal sticks:
Now we take the isolon and carefully glue the glass with tape so that the radiator does not heat it with its heat and does not interfere with the condensation of water:
For additional durability and strength, you can make mounts like this:
Next, we collect all the components of our device together and we should get such a design here:
We connect the wires (cooler first):
After that, we connect the power to the Peltier element. Next, we connect the cooler to the terminals and give a voltage of 14 volts. As you can see, the fan began to spin:
We collect water in a pan and put it on the stove, setting fire to gas (we wait until the water boils), and we connect the Peltier element to the terminals and give a current of 2 amperes.
We see that steam began to appear, and after it water began to drip into the cup:
You can vary the voltage and current (just do not overdo it). We see that the steam is flowing very strongly, therefore, in order to use the device even more economically and to increase the efficiency of the apparatus, an additional section can be made.
That's all! Our distiller is ready! Everything works, everything worked out. The device can also be used as a moonshine still if you pour the mash into the pan (but I will not talk about this already).
Thanks for attention! Good luck to everyone and see you soon!
