On sale there is a large assortment of car USB-connectors connected to the cigarette lighter of the car. But this is not always convenient, and besides, with such a large number of USB devices that have so closely entered our lives, it would be nice to have car stationary connector that does not occupy a place in the cigarette lighter socket. One of the ways how this can be done will be described in this article.
Materials and tools needed:
- Standard USB-connector with 12 volt power;
- A piece of plastic;
- Carbon film;
- Metal clamps and screed;
- Soldering iron with solder;
- Knife;
- screwdriver;
- Sandpaper.
Step 1. Disassemble the connector.
From the standard connector, we only need electronic its part, the case is not needed. Therefore, we boldly disassemble it and get a fee.
Step 2. The front panel.
Since the outlet will be mounted in a torpedo, there is no need to make the entire body for the electronic part, you can limit it only to its front side. We cut out a piece of plastic that we need in size, inside it we cut a rectangular hole for the connector itself. If there is an LED indicator, then we make a hole for it. The edges of the plastic pass sandpaper.
To improve the appearance, you can glue a piece of carbon film on top.
Step 3. Assembly.
Using a metal cable, the board with the connector is attached to the inside of the plastic socket. It is desirable that the connector fit into the socket with a minimum clearance.
Step 4. Installation.
Next, the power wires should be soldered to the board. Be careful, observe the polarity, otherwise the electronics may fail.
The other end of the wires can be soldered to the cigarette lighter power.
