Chair - do-it-yourself bag

A soft and comfortable chair will become an indispensable entertainment for your children. After all, such a chair does not have sharp corners and takes any body shape.

Necessary materials
- Fabric (breathable, dense) two-thread (3 meters).
- Plastic zipper.
- Fabric (dense) oxford. Black - 2.5 meters, white - 1 meter, and orange - 50x50 cm in color.
- Filler (expanded polystyrene) (200 liters). Available at a hardware store.
- Sewing machine.
- Threads, needles.
- Velcro (10-20 cm).

Manufacture

We sew an external cover

1. Cut out of black fabric, and fabric “two-thread” 6 side parts. They will serve as our inner and outer case. The sides should be in the shape of a pear. From below, their size is larger and from above smaller.

2. Cut the bottom from the same fabrics. The bottom should be larger, our cover.

3. Cut out the lid from the same materials. In order for our parts to fit together, you need to make it hexagonal.

P.s. The edges of the hexagon should be equal to the top and base of the pear.

4. Cut out the tummy for our penguin from white fabric. And sew it with a black cloth.

5. Next, we sew the bottom in the outer case. To do this, take a zipper, and at the edges we attach it to our black hexagon.

6. Then we sew the side parts to our zipper and the tummy.

7. Cut out the legs, from an orange cloth, 4 little things, and sew them together.

8. Cut out the eyes. To do this, take a white cloth, and cut out of it an irregular figure eight, and then two small, black circles. They also need to be connected.

9. Cut out the nose, two triangular areas. Also sew two parts. Sew the nose to our tummy, and sew the eyes on top of the nose.

10. We also cut the wings from the fabric, 4 triangular areas, and sew them to our torso.

P.s. Before stitching the orange fabric and the wings you need to fill them with cotton or polystyrene foam.

After all the actions, we should get such an external cover.

We sew an internal cover

It needs to be sewn so that our small balls of expanded polystyrene do not crumble.

11. It is sewn just like the outer case. In addition to attaching the bottom.

12. We will make a bottom on a flypaper for filling a cover. We cut the bottom into two parts, the first part should be less than the second. We attach our Velcro to both parts, overlapping the parts on top of each other.

13. We stick our inner case into the outer one.

14. We fill our penguin with expanded polystyrene.

15. Our chair - the bag is ready.

My husband has long wanted to buy such a chair-bag for a child, but they are sold very bulky for a child and for some reason we always come across the notorious red color! And here the size is suitable and the penguin is funny. Of course, this way you can sew any hero) Masha from the cartoon, for example! Thanks to the author for the idea and detailed instructions!
As a teenager, I dreamed that a chair-bag stood in my room. Now I’ve looked through your master class and I’ve fired up to create such a miracle, though it’s already for my child, it turns out to be a reality that the chair-bag is not so hard. Moreover, I mastered sewing skills well and the sewing machine is at hand, thank you very much for the detailed report of the work!
How much is polystyrene foam? It seems to crumple over time? Or am I wrong? The chair, of course, is ideal for children: light, soft, comfortable. I liked the penguin pattern for its simplicity. You look at such MKs and then you want to take up the tools to make the crafts yourself. I leave this MK to my favorites!
A wonderful idea is to make bean bags for children with the shape of funny little animals. but I would have taken out the wings in advance to use them as armrests. In general, it would be wonderful. The child sits down - a penguin hugs him. I wonder how many liters of expanded polystyrene will be needed to make an adult chair?

An interesting idea, as said above, is perfect for a nursery. Thanks to the author for a step-by-step and understandable master class. Question: What is the strength of the chair? And then the kids break absolutely EVERYTHING.
I have long wanted to buy a bean bag chair, but it’s always a pity to spend money, because they are quite expensive. Thanks to the author for the presented work, now I will definitely do it myself. I especially liked the fact that the author did not carry out an ordinary bag, but in the form of a penguin. All children will appreciate such a chair that fits perfectly into any interior of a children's room.
Yes, the price of finished bean bags stops. Penguin is funny, suitable for children. For adults, you can come up with another option: take the penguin's body pattern as a basis (good shape), proportionally increase the dimensions of the parts, make the side parts two-colored or all multi-colored.
I really like such soft chairs, but they are prohibitively expensive. There was no way to allocate funds for the purchase of such a comfortable accessory. Seeing this master class, I immediately got the idea to sew several of these chairs for myself and my family. Only characters will make more vivid.
