Stove for summer kitchen

If you constantly spend the warmer months in the country, then you will probably need a summer kitchen. After all, there is nothing better than to gather for dinner in the fresh, cool air with the whole family.

Since you have decided to build a summer kitchen in your country, then, first of all, you need to choose the right place. It is advisable to arrange it so that the smoke from the stove is not blown by the wind into the cottage itself. The summer kitchen can be quite extensive and combine several functions, for example, there you can make racks for storing cans, or equip a cozy dining room. A cooking stove can be located both indoors and outdoors. Or you can just fold the stove in the free air, put a large beach umbrella over the dining table. This option is quite suitable for those who come to the country only for the weekend.

In order to build a stove for a summer kitchen, special knowledge is not required, because it is designed specifically for quick heating and quick cooling, therefore, the complex chimney system is not used here, which is typical for stoves being built in houses and designed for year-round use.

So, for the construction of a small stove-stove, you will need blowing and furnace doors, two or two and a half hundreds of red bricks, grates, the stove itself, a steel strip 3-4 mm thick and, of course, clay and sand. You can buy refractory clay, or you can, having talked with local residents, stock it yourself. You can determine the necessary clay fat content by rolling a thin sausage out of it and curling it with a ring. If it gives only small cracks, then this clay is quite suitable, if the ring breaks, then there is too much sand in this clay, well, if the ring is too plastic, then you need to add a little sand.

To begin with, soak the bricks for a day. Now we lay out two continuous rows. This will be the foundation of our furnace. A blower door is installed in the third row, and an ash chamber is formed in this and subsequent rows. The fifth row secures the door, and also a grate is installed on it.Do not forget to leave a half-inch gap between the masonry and the grate.

From the sixth to the ninth row, the firebox is laid out. Do not forget to strengthen the firebox door with thin steel strips and lay an asbestos gasket. Further, if you decide to install also a cooking chamber, you will have to lay out the smoke box. The walls of such a chamber are usually formed by masonry bricks placed on the edge. In this case, it will be necessary to block it with an asbestos-cement sheet and install one or two cleaning doors. If only plates are enough for you, then it remains to lay out the pipe (you can put an iron one) and install the plate.

In principle, the stove can be cut out of steel sheet, but it will be much better if you purchase a cast iron stove with burners. The fact is that many metals either “lead” from fast heating or they quickly crack, and this is fraught with fire. It is advisable to fix a special spark arrestor cap above the pipe. And, of course, do not forget about the metal sheet under the firebox.

But, in order to build a quality stove for the summer kitchen yourself, it is worth looking at special drawings (orders). They can be found both in various magazines and on the Internet.
