Step 1: Get rid of the old varnish

Step 3: cut the cane
Attach a metal handle to the cane and determine the place where you want to cut the cane. Under the curved part of the cane, there should be enough space for the shank.
After you have made notes, you need to clamp a cane in a vice. Take a drill and slowly drill a hole. Immediately a large drill is not worth taking, so the handle may crack.Start with a smaller diameter, gradually increasing them. After the hole is the right size, fasten the handle.
You will see that after the handle snaps into place, the length of the cane will increase.
Step 6: Attach the Rings
Take a cane and decide on the place where you want to install the rings. Now take a pencil and mark the lines where the rings will be installed.
Install the middle ring initially, and then evenly attach the rest. Now take the black electrical tape and cut 6 identical pieces. Near each ring on the right and left sides, fix the electrical tape. After that, coat them thoroughly with varnish.
Step 6: Varnishing
Now the cane should be coated with clear varnish. Since the cane is round, the best option would be if you hang it. Apply at least 4 layers of varnish. Let the canes dry well.
