We work correctly with self-adhesive film

The self-adhesive film constantly helps us out: with this material they paste over the kitchen, bathroom, doors, household appliances, old furniture. The film is easy to use, safe for humans and is not afraid of high temperature. It seems that gluing surfaces with a film is a matter of a minute and simple. There are, however, a few tips that can help anyone who plans to repair an apartment. do it yourself.

For work you will need any self-adhesive film in rolls, a knife or scissors, a hair dryer, varnish, a primer and glue for wallpaper, a ruler and a dishwashing detergent.

First you need to prepare the surface, which must be glued with a film. The first of them should be smooth, clean, without grease or dust. Any detergent is used for degreasing. If this method is powerless before stains, an alkaline solution comes to the rescue.

If you need to paste over rusted steel pipe, for this it is necessary to remove all roughnesses with a sandpaper and it is advisable to degrease the steel pipe. You can degrease with solvent. Plastic, glass or metal is slightly moistened with water before gluing. A few drops of detergent are added to the water. If the film will be glued on porous rough surfaces (plaster, plywood, wood, fabric, ceramic tile or cork), then the latter must be dry.

In order for the film to adhere as firmly as possible, the wooden surface should be primed with a primer or polyester varnish. Handy and methyl wallpaper glue. Cracked or uneven surfaces are smoothed with a putty mass, sanded and coated with an acrylic primer.

Next, you need to cut the film. A centimeter scale (grid) on the back of the self-adhesive film will help in this matter. In order to cut even pieces, use a ruler and knife. In this case, a margin of 2-3 cm should be left. In the case when the film pattern is with rapport, the films are cut from the front side.

We proceed to gluing the surface. The paper is separated from the self-adhesive film by about 5 cm and the free edge begins to stick. Then, with one hand, the paper is gently pulled, and with the other, it is smoothed along the surface from the center to the edges with a soft towel. If it was not possible to avoid the formation of bubbles, then they are carefully pierced with a thin needle.

For pasting the edges and corners, a hairdryer is used, which heats the edges of the film and bends them.

In the case when it is necessary to paste over a large surface, the film is cut into large panels with an allowance of 1.5 cm. It must be taken into account that the surface to be glued should absorb moisture well.

The surface is covered with wallpaper glue and the panels are applied until the glue has dried. The film is pressed with a sponge or rag and smoothed.

In the case when the film sticks very quickly, the surface is sprinkled with talcum powder or powder - this will help slow down the gluing process, as well as easily shift the film in the right direction.

If the film needs to be glued over the edges or corners, small objects (for example, books or stools), protruding corners of self-adhesive material are cut at an angle of 45 degrees, and then bent and glued.

This work is quite simple, but requires perseverance and patience, especially when working with large surfaces. Ideally, they should be smooth and smooth.
