The simplest plastic bottle pump

What to do if the pump accidentally breaks down, and the child wants to play the ball that needs to be inflated. Go to the store for a new pump, you say, and we will offer to make a simple pump from two plastic bottles.

So we need:
- two plastic bottles
- hose from the pump;
- wide adhesive tape;
- lighter;
- screwdriver;
- a drill with a diameter of 3-4 mm.

Note that plastic bottles must be of different diameters. A large bottle should have a larger diameter, and a small bottle should have a smaller diameter so that the second fits tightly into the first.



The first thing you need to do is drill holes in the bottoms of plastic bottles.



Next, cut off the upper part of the bottle with a larger diameter.



After that, a small bottle should fit tightly into a large one, but this density is not enough to inflate the ball.



To do this, take the tape and wrap it around a small bottle, thereby obtaining something like a sealing ring. According to the author, he tried to use erasers from banknotes, but they constantly slipped away.



If the bottle then goes very tightly into the large, you can lubricate the o-ring with hand cream.



We take a lighter and heat up the hole made on the bottom of a large bottle before installing the hose from the pump. Thus, the plastic warms up and a thread is obtained.



The simplest plastic bottle pump is ready. Let's move on to testing. To do this, insert the needle into the ball and try to pull on a small bottle. Note that this will not work in any way, since there is a valve in the hose. But here comes a hole that we drilled in the bottom to help. This hole will help remove the vacuum. To do this, when pulling the piston or small bottle, you need to slightly open the lid.



After the piston is pushed back, close the lid so that the air does not come out and press down, watching the ball pump up.
